Chromecast w/Google TV playback issues (EAC3)

I have a Chromecast w/Google TV and I’ve had this annoying problem for months, maybe since I’ve had it.

When I’m playing certain videos, usually ones that have EAC3 audio, I have a few issues with playback:

  1. Sometimes the video will just stall and freeze. Sometimes, it might instead leap forward a big chunk. I have to stop playback, and then resume from the info screen.

  2. If I try to rewind, the video will just stall and freeze. The progress bar might be continuing to go, but there is no audio or video. I have to stop playback, and then resume from the info screen. This is particularly annoying since when it resumes, it might not be at the spot I was trying to rewind to.

Probably related: when I pause for a bit, and then resume, the video will be frozen, and the audio will go for a few seconds, then the video catches up.

I have tried to have the client convert to dolby digital (AC3) surround or sometime just turn off surround on the Google device and the Plex app. Still see this issue.
