"Client-Setup" reappears with every NAS sign-in

Server Version#: 1.25.8.5663 Synology DSM 6
Player Version#:

Having trouble logging into my Plex Synology ds220j server running PlexMediaServer-1.25.8.5663-aarch64 --DSM6–

This is all local… using a browser I log directly into my server’s IP, (port 32400). After sign-in the browser will immediately add on to the address “/client-setup”, then the browser pops to the Client-Setup screen.

I can go through the setup choices and access media OK, but when I log out and log back in, I’m back to the Client-Setup screen

cookies are enabled. I’m not even closing the browser… I just log out and immediately log back in and I’m back to “Client-Setup”

The trouble started after I updated to the version 1.25.5.5663. Is there something I may have changed that can be fixed??

Thanks!

  1. Can you stop Plex ,

  2. Manually create a ZIP file of Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs directory,

  3. Download the ZIP file,

  4. Attach here for us to look at and see what’s happening.

I think this is the log file needed

Let me know, Thanks

@xyler

No, that’s not the log file I wanted or requested.

Please make a zip of the complete Logs directory as requested.

This should do it

@xyler

This is minimally a connectivity issue.

Is the server wired or wifi ? If wifi connected to the internet, urge you connect via wire.

The other issue is the server actually seeing SIGNOUT and DELETE requests.

What is happening ? Were these actions requested by the device at 192.168.0.119???

Server software on Plex is wired with dedicated/reserved IP 192.168.0.177

Back before I got serious about my Plex system I did some testing on an old PC 192.168.0.119.

And yes, last week sometime I powered up this PC planning to “clean it up”. I started the old server software not thinking of the effect it might have. It was almost immediately shut down. I never put 2+2 together but the timeline would fit my issue.

Please tell me there’s an easy fix.

Thanks!

@xyler

Plex.tv only has 1 entry for your account. DS220J server .

It had used 3 certificates in 3 days. It should use 1 certificate every 90 days.

I have reset the certificate.

I would like you to restart your DS220J server and see if it comes back ok.

-shut down DS220j
-powered up
-logged into DS220j ok

No Change…

start access to Plex
http://192.168.0.177:32400/web/index.html#!/

goes to
https://app.plex.tv/auth/#!?clientID=xxxxxxxxx

then shows
http://192.168.0.177:32400/web/index.html#!/client-setup

displays “Plex web setup” “Customize your media” page

@xyler

Just open the base http://192.168.0.177:32400/web URL

Client setup is for pinning media sources in your Plex/web browser app

In the upper right corner of your Plex/web app, is it signed in to the admin account??

That’s what I have been doing.
It automatically pops me to that “clientID” address on my first login (some sort of verification?). Then on to “client-setup”

Now if I log out / log back in and it goes from:
http://192.168.0.177:32400/web
directly to:
http://192.168.0.177:32400/web/index.html#!/client-setup

Either way I have to “customize” all over again

And Yes, administrator shows up in the corner all signed in

@xyler

Do you have any type of JavaScript blockers/ other blockers in your browser?

What happens if you open using Incognito mode?

FFox 98.0.2 (64-bit). I have some Norton plugins. Don’t think Java is blocked
Really there has been no change to the browser other than FF upgrades that I remember for quite a while

Incognito (private window?) gives me the same result

I’ll try Opera… no difference

@xyler

In my recent experience with FireFox, it’s going downhill fast.

Will you please go and make another set of logs?
I would like to see if anything changed.

One more thing… I stopped PMS before I installed the last update. Should it be left running?

Curious- What browser do you like?
Like I said, Opera didn’t make any diff… Maybe Chrome?

@xyler

Yes, I very much like Chrome/Chromium. It works the best for me.

It doesn’t matter. The package installation process stops the server anyway
