With 4k Dolby Vision / HDR content I have distracting colour banding on the Plex app on Fire TV Stick 4k Max, only noticed in certain areas, usually very bright scenes. Does not occur on the internal LG C1 Plex app, looks perfect there. It is not a bitrate issue.
(ignore the colour value/focus differences, taking photos of TV screens is tough)
I tried many files and changed every setting under the sun in both Plex and my TV, nothing helped. Once I found these posts below I’ve kind of given up, as it seems like a common issue no one has fixed.
It’s the exact same issue as this thread - hundreds of posts with people upset at no communication from the Plex team after more than a year: Apple TV 4k (2021) HDR color banding
Same as many other threads I found, like this one with another FireTV user reply, or this one.
Many ATV users have resorted to playing their media through Infuse instead, but that’s Apple only. I can try Kodi but obviously I’d prefer to stay in Plex.
Didn’t see any Fire TV users talking about it on these forums, just Reddit, so thought it might be worth a post. Please help!
