Coming Soon trailers in separate library

Just experimenting a bit. And it has been asked before.

when I download a trailer and want to put it is a separate library called Coming Soon… I tested by creating a movie folder, and call the trailer (year)-trailer.ext. Scanning the library results in null, most likely because the actual movie is missing.

When renaming the trailer (year).ext the scan will result in finding the correct meta data and posters. Click play, and the trailer will start. But 2 things that I would like to have more control over.

1. Plex is downloading subtitles. For this library I need no subtitles. Can I deactivate this function on library level?

2. The movie is added to newly added movies on the main screen. Can I deactivate this function on library level? Or have something like “Newly added trailers” on the front page?

Is there another way to create a library solely for movie trailers? Other agents to use ?

Edit the library. Choose Advanced. Change Visibility to exclude from home screen.

Via Plex Web: Hover over library, click on vertical ellipsis, Manage Library → Edit → Advanced

Thank you for your reply. I was looking for that link yes :), Thx. But when using this method there will always be downloaded subtitles, as with an ordinary movie. I guess there is no way to turn this of, is there?

Not sure if this will work, but give it a try.

Notice under Server Settings → Agents → The Movie Database there is no listing for OpenSubtitles.org.

Edit the library and change the Agent from Plex Movie to The Movie Database.

After making the change, you’ll have to refresh the library metadata at a minimum. You may have to Plex Dance the files, or possibly delete / re-create the library. Translation: I’ve never done this, so not sure of exact steps, but I think it will work.

Thank you for the tip. That did the trick yes. Now the trailer is listed a a movie, but get’s no subs, I got the whole shabang of posters, actors, description, etc … Pretty neat. There is a docker script (Python )that actually can automate the entire process. It scans Radarr for the movies in your list that aren’t downloaded yet. It get’s the trailer and put it in your Plex Trailers library. Once the full movie is marked downloaded, it will remove the trailer from the Coming Soon library. I’m waiting for feedback from the author as I ran in to some problems.
