Communication Error with Plex App and PMS running on QNAP TS-219 (ARM x-19) Version 0.9.12.11

Hi all,

I am running PMS 0.9.12.11 on my QNAP TS-219 NAS. I was using it with the Plex App on my Samsung TV (which, since it is an older model - LA46C650 - uses an older version of the Plex App) without a problem.

Since the Xbox 360 app became free I tried to configure PMS so that it could play through the 360.

I did find it annoying that the 360 app could not simply detect my local PMS and that I needed to sign in to the PMS on my NAS so the 360 app could work with my local server.

Since I don’t want my server to be accessed remotely - I disabled remote access.

I signed into the Plex App on my xbox 360 and it detected my server fine - successfully allowing me to browse my library.

However, the moment I tried to play a file I received the following error:

“There was an error communicating with your Plex media server, make sure it’s turned on and accessible and try again”

Clearly, my PMS is on and accessible, as I was able to connect to the PMS and browse my library without issue.

I confirmed this by being able to access and play files off my PMS using Plex Home Theatre on my PC.

Enabling remote access didn’t resolve the issue (and is not something I want enabled anyway) with my Xbox 360.

So …I’m stumped.

Additionally, by signing in to my PMS, this made me lose the ability to access the server via the Plex App on my Samsung TV.

Since my xbox 360 refused to play my media I have had to sign out of plex account on my PMS in order to allow my TV to access the PMS again.

I would love to be able to get it working with my xbox 360 (and don’t mind losing access via the TV App as a result) so if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Cheers.

wrong info, sorry

In fact that is not the problem, I don’t know where it is but I can’t play anything on the xbox using plex client although with the regular xbox one media player I can play the files.

using debugging I found this
(Capabilities) Platform ‘Xbox One’ not matched by plugin platform requirements

so strange
