Computer bluescreens occasionally crashes when playing movies with plex

My computer that runs my plex server occasionally crashes when playing media through plex. I can’t say for certain if plex is the one causing the issue, but I have only been able to reproduce it by playing certain movies it often crashes on while playing.

Using handbreak to manually encode the same movies works just fine, the system is stable when idling and under stress tests without crashing. Memtest gives no errors and the issue is still present after a clean windows 10 install. This makes me think that it is not a hardware issue although plex might be using the CPU in a way that the tests mentioned before do not include.

For reference in the log files, the crashes occurred 03.01.2019 18:18:03 and 04.01.2019 00:24:32 and are both marked as Kernal-power 41 crashes with eventviewer in windows.

Any insight or advice would be much appreciated.

I managed to solve the problem
For anyone experiencing the same issue, turning on hardware acceleration on the plex server fixed the problem at least for me. I am fairly sure there are no hardware faults on my server and since plex is the only application which was able to trigger it I think there might be an encoding bug here.

Anyway hopes this was helpful and saves others from having to go through the same troubleshooting nightmare
