Connection Not Fast Enough

Hey all I’ve been trying to setup a small-time Plex server on my gaming rig and I’ve been having issues with remote play. My family that is around 100 miles away keep getting the connection is not fast enough error after buffering. It happens on everything from 1080 x264 to HEVC. They are testing around 60 Mbs and I have a 500 Mbs upload. They have direct play on and remote streaming set to original. They’re on a Roku TV, my friend here in the same city is watching something right now from windows with no issues.

I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Sapphire Pulse RX 580 and have gotten the same results with hardware acceleration on and off. I’ve turned my vpn off, messed around with my Plex settings and theirs, port forwarded, firewall exceptions, but to no avail.

The same friend here who has the same internet provider as me and runs their server off of a i5-6500t. My family is able to watch 1080 264 videos smooth with no buffering from his server, however the same codec streamed from my server to them faces constant buffering and the error. Versus me being able to remote play from my phone as well as my friend being able to watch with no issues. Id really appreciate any info cause it’s driving me nuts, thanks.

Server Version#: 1.25.9.5721
Player Version#: 4.79.4

What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard? I’m particularly interested if those remote streams are considered remote or indirect. An indirect connection implies there’s a problem with the remote access setup because of which the communication has to be relayed through a server of Plex. Those relayed connections are limited to 1 Mbps (2 Mbps for Plex Pass members)

Thanks for the speedy reply tom, the first screenshot with “tacoma FD” is a stream to my family’s place. While it’s not the same as the other screenshot i’ll send I can assure you the results are the same regardless of video codec/subtitles. The other picture is my friend here in the same city streaming with no issues. While I know his is direct playing 1080P its the same when they are also direct playing but these are the only pictures I can provide right now.

After noobily scanning through the log files I found that every time my family tried to watch something and got the buffer/error this popped up every time “handleStreamWrite code 10053: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine”
What software in my machine is aborting the connection whilist letting others watch with no issues?
