Hi there,
since the last update, my android device shows constantly “Offline Mode”.
I can see various suspicious DNS-Requests that are getting blocked by my Ad-Guard Appliance.
Some examples:
featureassets org
prodregistryv2
kvaedit site
int kvaedit site
fullstory com
I have unblocked them for testing, but Plex still doesn’t connect.
However, the Plex-Client on my Windows-OS works like a charm (in the same network)
Why is Plex connecting to various Data-Collection-Services?
I’m very privacy considered, and I’m not using any additional content from plex, just my own collection. Therefore, I reject any additional tracking & data selling. Also I have the Plex Pass, and at least there I want the ability to not “pay with my data”.
Of course I reinstalled the App, and took several troubleshooting measures, till now without outcome.
The question is also, why did the update completly change the networking behavior of the app. Before it was only analytics.plex tv that was doing “analytics” and now its like a full bunch of domains, that have such poor reputation, that they get blocked by security appliances.
In the end, of course I’m willed to unblock everything that plex needs to be functioning, but it would be nice if there was a list (like existing for MS-Teams, Steam etc.) which domains needs to be reachable.
Does anyone also has this issue? Does anyone also noticed the new behaviour?
It would be really interesting to know.
Also, a short statement from plex team itself would be nice!
