I checked today and the issue is getting worse, a 4k hdr video that would usually play for 19mins before buffering endlessly now buffers at 7 mins
Ladies and gentlemen, itās time we see the writing on the wall. Xbox is a gaming platform, not a multimedia media center that Microsoft originally envisioned. The proof is in the pudding - Microsoft has had an abysmal time supporting the Plex app - the Plex devs can only do so much to push a behemoth like Microsoft.
With that said, my next move will be to the well-supported NVidia Shield which runs on Android. A new version will come out at CES 2020 in January, so my plan is to struggle through it for the next few months using my Roku and/or Chromecast until I can buy the new Shield. If you want an immediate solution, the 2017 Shield is quite capable.
Donāt want to move to a new platform? Well, whatās the definition of insanity again?
Also seeing buffering all the time. If this is going to continue being an issue Iād love to see Plex invest in building their own video stack on XB1. Even if itās an option within the app with fewer features, itād be nice to at least play content in a stable environment. Thanks for your work @Moussa.
I cannot watch Live TV anymore on Plex Xbox One. Non stop buffering issues. I have two Xbox Ones and both have this issue (Original Xbox One and Xbox One X). Please fix this.

Itās an issue at the Xbox system level and not something we can control, unfortunately. We continue to work with Microsoft on the issue, but we donāt have anything specific to share, sorry.

So I got in contact with an Xbox dev on the insider program. They enabled some more extensive trace logging on my console to reproduce and report the issue. Already sent one report with this new logging. I can reproduce the issue at will with a couple of 4k HDR movies between 19 and 20 mins in.

Itās reported as an issue now on the Alpha ring as well, freaking miracle only took 6 months

Thanks for your work with sending off the logs etc,
The buffering issue with plex is killing me, we have a piece of hardware that is truly a great piece of media kit,
DVD/BD/UHD Player,
Tv Tuner (Freeview)
On Demand Apps (BBC, ITV)
And for streaming Plex, etc 
just really want this buffering issue resolved.
Still an issue and desperately waiting for a fix.
Strongly agree with above statement. xBox One is easily one of the best media player with access to Netflix, Plex, Free to Air and Gaming and would love to have Plex working again.
Please fix this Plex. We are all waiting.

The fact that the xbox team has publicly acknowledged this is very good news
Well donāt get your hopes up, this is the SECOND time the buffer issue has come up and been added as a known bug. The last time before this was early this year.
They actually fixed the issue late winter then the exact same issue came back early summer and here we are still having to be loud to get it fixed a second time.
And as you can see from this thread buffering plex and the Xbox seem to keep cropping up.
I doubt this issue will ever be fully resolved and not come back at some time.

If you want to keep using xbox, but stop the buffering, and enjoy 4k Streaming or just random buffer free after 15-20, then i would suggest the followingā¦
Cant remember who posted it on here but all i can say is i have been using this method all evening throwing everything at it without it missing a heartbeat.
Im currently watching UHD movie as we speak. around 23gb in size.
No lag,
No Buffering,
Soā¦ what Iām going to use until Plex sort out the buffering issues along with x265 issue oo and also random 4k transcoding issues.
- Pop over to Microsoft store on Xbox Search Kodi and Install
- Load Kodi, go to Addons, video and search for plex and install
- Run plex Addon, pop to settings enable x265 decoding, change remote quality to Original and also set plex to run at Kodi start up
- Sit back and enjoy plex on xbox how it should be
If Kodi can nail Plex player, then im sure Plex should be able to build something native on the xbox platform.

Unless something has changed recently that kodi add on does not properly trigger HDR on the Xbox.
Hey @deactivated I see you posted athread about a similar issue for POS3/4, but nothing as it relates to the Xbone. What info do you need from us to get this fixed, the lack of support on the issue in multiple threads is becoming absurd, especially to those of us whoāve entrusted our hard earned money to yall. We donāt need more āpartnershipsā to foist ads, we need the core apps to work.
Please, since this is the PoC for support, help us to get yall the info you need to fix this.

Too bad to see this is still a problem, I left months ago after the issues made it unwatchable, and this of course a year or less after I switched from yearly to lifetime sub on Plex. Iāve had to switch over to Emby in order to have a nice smooth experience. Same gear, same network so I know itās Plex that has the issue.
I have to point out (again) that on my XBox One, a live tv stream (.ts) plays/navigates (skips forward/back) flawlessly from the HDhomerun app and buffers with every interaction when trying to watch from within Plex (no real time transcoding).
What is Silicon Dust doing that Plex canāt seem to figure out?
