Constant Buffering

Server Version#: DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3
Player Version#: Version 1.108.1.307-dd5b87aa

First, I apologize if this is in the wrong thread. I have no clue where I should even post this message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one movie that has played perfectly for several years. Today, after reaching about 1 hour into the movie, the playback suddenly started to play a second, pause a second, play a second, and pause another second. I copied the MP4 file from the server to my local drive and played the movie using Windows Media Player. It never buffered or skipped. I then removed the file from the server by deleting it. I even deleted the folder. I then recreated the folder and added the file back to the folder. The same problem is occurring. What else can I do. So far, this is the only movie I am having a problem with. Like I said, I have played the movie from the server many times in the past. This is the first time I have run into this problem.

What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard?
Specifically… is the stream listed as Local, Remote or Indirect, and is there any transcoding displayed?

Here is what I am seeing…

Does not appear to be much other than Direct.

I took the original MP4 version I had ripped from my DVD and ran it through a video converter to rewrite the file. I can’t remember what I used to create the first version of the MP4 file, but what ever the new converter did, it appears to have solved the problem.

Actually, the real problem was with the server. Yoda is my old Plex server and that machine is about to die. I chose from RazorCrest (the Synology NAS instance of Plex Server), but for some reason it was trying to play from Yoda. I have uninstalled the Yoda server so this does not happen again. I am usually very careful when picking a movie to make sure I pick from my newer server, but I could have easily chosen from the wrong server. All is good!
