Content of my libraries disappeared and server not reachable from plex web interface

Server Version#: 4.43.0.10492-720010492

I have PMS installed on a Synology NAS running DSM 7.2.2-72806 update 6

I understand these are the latest versions of both.

I can connect to plex web interface on my LAN, but I see no content:

  • No content available

Check your network connection and verify that any media servers are online

  • if I try to click on one of my exsting libraries on the left menu, I get: DiskStation PM is currently unavailable

The server is claimed and remote access is functional.

From the console I get a lot of these warnings:

[CERT] TLS connection from [::ffff:”my_external_IP”]:62546 came in with unrecognized plex.direct SNI name ‘my_external_IP.f3c6a11f46a14362bb723f3df404d003.plex.direct’; using installed plex.direct cert
I tried deleting /PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Cache and using a minimal Preferences.xml with no success.

My PMS has been up and running for several years: I recently changed ethernet cables and switch ports. I recently bought a music streamer (Eversolo DMP-A8) and all this activity was to try and connect it to the PMS via SMB shares (it worked).

Any idea what’s going on?

I have looked at Plex.tv for your account.

You have MANY servers listed which appear to be the same machine.
Most look to be dead servers.

First step is to remove the dead / no longer used instances from your account.

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

Let me know when you’ve done this and I will look again

Hi,

I removed all those that were created today, while I was debugging the problem.

The remaining 2 are legit:

  • DiskStation Plex is another PMS currently switched off, but working fine, installed on a different Synology machine
  • DiskStation PM is the one I’m debugging and it was working fine yesterday
  • All the DiskStationXL were failed attempts at regaining access to DiskStation PM

Still can’t access the server.

What’s next?

Hi again,

The server was unclaimed. I claimed it and all is back to normal.

Thanks for the suggestion: it did the trick.

Cheers

That was going to be my next instruction —

  1. Open by IP address
  2. See if it’s claimed
  3. Claim if not
