If the “issue” is that marking an episode of a show as watched and it’s next (unwatched) episode is not in Continue Watching then this is the expected behavior for now and has been since PMS 1.40.x. The show must have some kind of actual watch history on the server to be seen in Continue Watching.
The team that focuses on personal media is discussing a change that sounds like it would return the concept of adding something into Continue Watching by marking an episode as watched. This is how it works with our VOD catalog and with tracking shows in Discover/Watchlist. So the confusion and frustration captured in this thread and others and the lack of parity with our own online services, it definitely seems like this is the direction we should be going. Stay tuned.
If I’ve missed what the issue is here, please correct me.
Looking forward towards hopefully getting the functionality of Continue Watching back to what it once were where marking an episode as watched will line the next one up in Continue Watching.
@stevezau and anyone else, just wanting to make sure ya’ll saw that in the latest Beta (1.41.6.9606) that marking an unwatched show’s S01E01 (or any other combination of episode(s)) will now add that show into Continue Watching.
EDIT:
Well, it worked for one show…until I switched users and back, and the show disappeared from Continue Watching.
EDIT 2:
Weird…I marked an episode watched from several more series, and they did eventually appear in Continue Watching - but it took a while. I guess it is working after all.
Now, how about making it so that a show with an episode next-up automatically appears in the Continue Watching hub of any library containing that show? Right now, it only appears for libraries where an episode of the series has been played or marked as watched. If I have another library with that show, I shouldn’t have to mark an episode as watched there before it appears in Continue Watching there. In short, my history should follow me better from library to library.
