Core component problem, I can't add libraries, any help appreciated

Thank you Plex for the updates. Was about to start uninstalling and reinstalling.

Just applied the Google Play update and instead of the message “A problem has been detected with a core component” the web interface asked me to re-add the Shields server. Name it etc :+1:

Can you tell us the version number of the fixed build so we know whether the Play Store version available is the fixed one? Thanks.

I started experiencing the same problem yesterday. Unfortunately, I uninstalled before finding this thread. I wasn’t even able to set up the server again after reinstalling. Fortunately, after uninstalling and reinstalling again just now I was able to get the server set up. I’m still not able to add libraries, though. I can’t browse for media and the “next” button is still grayed out. Language drop down menu still doesn’t populate anything, either. Seems like maybe I just didn’t actually get the update on install? Am I just playing a waiting game? Has the Play Store not made the update available yet? I feel so foolish for deleting everything before checking to see if this thread existed.

I’m in the exact same boat! I’m probably going to need to wait a day or two to see if it’s working again. I wish I’d just waited :man_facepalming:

Updated beta build worked great. Thank you for fixing the issue so quickly! Literally resolved in hours. Really impressive. Thank you again.

Wow. Works like a charm after beta update. Really difficult for Plex developers to keep track of all changing policies on all platforms. They can’t help this at all. Thank you. As we say in Holland “petje af”
As in English Good work Thank you.

I’ll answer my own question. The fixed version is 1.40.2.8395. I installed it and it’s working.

Update came through. Rebuilding. Everything’s peachy now. I gotta like write myself a note or something. Just tape it above my PC. “Calm down, take a breath. You aren’t as bad at this as you like to think you are. Check the forums BEFORE you start to rebuild.”

So safe to upgrade? Phew!

Here’s a stupid question. How do you force an upgrade of PMS on Nvidia Shield? Or do I just have to wait for it to happen on its own?

It updates through the Google Play store like any other app on the device.

When I go to the play store and search for Plex Media server, the only option is to ‘Open’. It wasn’t working when I went to check this morning, but after stopping/starting Plex Server and going to the Play Store and ‘Opening’ the app, I now have LIVE TV AGAIN. So, it is once again working. Thanks!!!

Well done guys!

My issue was slightly different, I could play old content, but was unable to play anything recently downloaded post update.

I’m already a beta tester, so updated to the beta code (Nvidia Shield Pro 2019), reboot and everything started working again.

Currently the beta version and the non-beta version are the same.

I just wanted to give my feedback as well.
This time, in contrast to the SMB problem, the solution came quickly and resolved the problem entirely!

Thanks guys!

I still had issues with upgrading to 1.40.2.8395. I saw the recent messages saying that it was fixed and I figured that it would be safe to upgrade from 1.32.4.7195. But I lost the icon in settings to start and stop my Plex server and PMS was down. I restarted my Shield 2017 and that didn’t do anything. I went into the Shield settings under Apps and Forced stopped PMS and cleared the Cache and that seemed to do the trick. I went into Plex and the PMS icons were back and I was able to start the server.
