Core Manager for Plex Arcade

Snes9x works for me but is not in the tool

thanks where did you download your core from ? I used the Libretro one.

PLEASE add support for non-standard PMS paths/installations. A simple option to enter or point to the DATA location should be enough. I was really hoping version 1.0.4 would address that.

From what I can see there are no N64 cores available for MacOS on the libretro site, which is maybe why you are getting an empty ZIP file?

After a lot of searching I found the Parallel N64 core for MacOS here.

I downloaded and installed it and working for me using my 2018 Mac mini PMS:

Hope this helps.

I’ve found one that works for me, just posted a reply to another post about it.

The 1.0.4 release of Core Manager should throw a helpful alert when a core isn’t currently available on a given operating system.

In the next day or two the 1.1.0 version will be out that fixes a few things/changes some UI, adds support for custom pms paths, and will have mappings for snes9x cores.

Once that release is out the door I’m hoping to tackle sideloading. I don’t see myself adding random links to cores out on the internet. But I’ve got some ideas to make it easy for users to add those cores to PMS without having to manually work with the XML.

I am running into the same issue as zt67638. I am running plex server on MacOS and I can get plex arcade and the core manager / emulators to run on the web app through chrome and they work wonderfully. I have had no luck getting any of them to work on Apple TV. Even the included Atari games don’t work. I have no network issues and am using static IP’s. Took down any firewalls, etc. Same error message from parsec -12007. The screen goes black when i try and start a game after about a minute the error message comes up. After going back a page I can see the thumbnail is updated showing the game.

Thanks for that – I’ve been searching for either N64 core and couldn’t find either one

1.1.0 is building and will be out shortly.

New:

  • Dark mode :tada:
  • Cores are now mapped 1:1 to a platform. Now you can install Genesis Plus GX for Genesis and PicoDrive for 32X.
  • Custom PMS paths are now available if the standard path is undetected (this UI will continue to improve)
  • snes9x cores are now recognized and available

EDIT: 1.1.1 is now available

Managed to get gameboy games to run…and thats it. None of the NES ones work, the SNES gives me a red screen. :frowning:

Well, unzipping the ROMs work…but still can’t get GBA to work.

Any hope for VIRTUAL BOY?

When I open this I only get a blank white screen. Reinstalling or anything doesn’t do anything. Neither does the reload button.

Edit: Just reinstalled Windows and Plex, still no luck.

I’ve been having the exact same problem for the last few days. Are you running it in a VM? I’m just trying to use a basic Windows 10 Pro install.

Edit: Welp, looks like all I had to do was create the “Game Cores” folder at the directory and the list populates now, but I still get nothing but a black screen when I attempt to play anything. (Apparently when you try to play an included Atari game it creates this folder. I never did that.)

Edit 2: I have now discovered that Plex Arcade requires hardware transcoding, and by default vSphere doesn’t support that. Thankfully my server has a Quadro in it that I’m using for a Linux Plex server. I’m going to test repurposing it to this Windows box to see if that works.

Final Edit for those paying attention: I was able to passthrough a GPU into a Windows VM to get Arcade working. I guess I’m waiting for a few product updates (i.e., Linux server support) before I subscribe to anything going forward.

Thanks for the log. I’ll make sure the core manager bug gets fixed

1.1.2 rolling out now:

FIXED

  • fix(ui): progress spinner was off center (35bdf0c)
  • fix(core): create “Game Cores” if it doesn’t exist on start (2bb46f0)

I store my metadata and my Plex media server installation on an external hard drive for ease of future server migration, and I wish this program had the option to change where the installation is so I’m not putting files in a location Plex is no longer monitoring. Other than that, it works as intended for me.

not only is it terrible to get setup, the user adoption registration is ridiculous, registering on another site asking your clients to do a bunch of troubleshooting stuff to get it to work.

if they were able to migrate the user login and just work, as well needs to work with Roku, thats the #1 platform out there… Im not willing to pay as well get my users to jump through a ton of hoops to potentially play if they have controllers
