Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 404

Server Version#: v1.20.1.3252-a78fef9a9

Hi, I was having a problem connecting to my server over TLS because the certificate hash had changed for some reason. I signed my server out of plex.tv, then back in to generate a new certificate. Now, I get the error “Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 404” (log snippet).

I see similar bugs have cropped up in the past (example). Any way I can help look into this?

There are a couple of other recent posts about this too, so I don’t think it’s just you. :slight_smile:

Unable to fetch certficate from cloud

Can't connect to PMS running in MacOS Big Sur - #12 by Volts

I don’t know if there’s anything you can kick, or if it’s a matter of waiting until something is resolved on the other end.

i don’t know if that’s my case too, but since i changed my account password when i went to claim my server i can’t get it to work in secure connections anymore.

Method 1:

  1. Sign the server out
  2. Restart
  3. Sign the browser out
  4. Close and reopen the browser fresh
  5. Open Server by IP (or tunnel if required)
  6. Claim again
  7. Restart server

Method 2:

give me the name and I will forward to operations who will force-kick the existing cert it thinks it has for the host. then restart the server

Thanks for the reply, folks, and sorry I didn’t see the other threads. Method 1 didn’t work; still getting the 404 status getting the new cert. I’ll PM the server details.

Never mind, it appears I can’t PM @ChuckPa. I’ve posted the server details temporarily here. Let me know if you need anything else?

I got the notification (ping).

Would you like me to notify operations?

my username is .plx-svr and id also appreciate if you could have ops force kick mine

Fixed! Thanks @ChuckPa I restarted the server a few minutes ago and successfully got a new cert minted. I very much appreciate the assist.

Apologies, I have the same error. Method 1 has not worked. Please could you ask Ops to force-kick my cert too?

Thank you.

Operations gave me access to their tool for this.

Synology has been reset.
Please restart PMS.

Thank you @ChuckPa, now getting :

HTTP 429 response from POST https://plex.tv/devices/

Try again in an hour or so?

Yes…

Please stop PMS so it stops making the requests.

I’ll inform Operations of the 429.

Stopped now - will leave off for an hour or so. Thank you once again

@ChuckPa Maybe more time needed?

Have stopped PMS again.

@chris_harveyonline_me_uk

Please turn the server back on.

Operations is looking at it now.

They are also expanding the tool so we can deal with these types of situations ourselves

That is fixed now. Thank you very much @ChuckPa

@ChuckPa I am in the same boat. may I please have my cert flushed?

@ChuckPa same here… failed to fetch cert. Server name is vdserver1. If you could kick my cert, I’d be forever grateful.

I’ve made a focus thread.

@joshuaewing
@vdplex2

I think I did cert reset for one of you along the way in another thread.
Would you mind replying in the new thread and updating me as to what I need to do?

Thanks.
