"Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna." Error

okay last post, and I am done lol. I swapped coax cables, and the problem followed. Dang it. I guess I get to crawl in the attic and run a new line. Weird it just randomly messed up over the weekend lol. It’s all quad shielded coax from monoprice too.

Well, my issue is back :frowning: I just upgraded to the latest version as well of 1.15.3.876. Also I saw in the logs that the quality is 95, and signal is 100 now. so it’s not an issue with my signal. Also I can view the channel just fine outside of plex… Roku is also unable to view the channel too. But I am primarily trying to access this channel using chrome.

Attached are my logs, and now I am seeing a good signal for channel 749, but I cannot tune it. It comes up with error 16 (Recording failed. Please check your tuner or antenna.) Attached are latest logs, and I captured them right after the 2nd attempt to tune the channel.

bump? I can’t be the only one with this issue…

/sigh, I am still having this issue. Should I open a new thread up or something?

You are running Unraid-Docker-HDHomerun Cable Card not exactly fitting this topic. I’ve seen enough threads saying they(Plex) are aware of problems with the Hauppauge cards and a few threads from people with HDHR CC having tuning issues maybe join in there.

Just a guess but is your docker container using Bridge Mode? There are indications that the network is being dropped.

Exact same issue as OP seems like others are having issues with other devices as well. I’ve tried multiple versions of Plex, OS, driver versions etc. No luck. Recent versions actually work less now before could watch for a second once and now never. Has anyone on Plex team been able to investigate this?

I have HDHomeRun Primes, and I’m getting the same tuning issue with specific channels like Comedy Central. Started with the latest .919 release. :frowning:

I’m running PMS on a dedicated Windows 10 box.

Anyone want to test the new HDHR firmware?

Release 20190417:

  • HDTC-2US/HDHR5-2US/HDHR5-4US: Demodulator firmware update – fixes reception problems for WTVD.
  • HDHR3-CC: Fix problem where disabled channels could self re-enable when the background scan ran if the channel disappeared from the lineup and later reappeared.
  • HDTC-2US: Drop unused gateway UPnP probe/control support.
  • ALL: Add X-HDHomeRun-Resource header to video HTTP response to indicate the tuner number.
  • ALL: Add /status.json to report tuner status in a machine readable format.

Just installed - given the note for the HDHR3-CC, I’m guessing that it won’t fix the issue…

Doesn’t work for me

Me 2 with HDHomerun prime! Can get channel directly from HDHomerun to PC, no problems. Can get channel on the TIVO from another cable card. It’s not all channels, just the ones I want to watch/record.

OMG, has this been broke since December of 2018?

I dusted off my HDHomerun Dual ATSC Tuner and connected a good outdoor antenna. Getting channels with HDHomerun viewer. Added it to Plex scanned channels with great signal strength, but get “Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.” when trying to view with Plex, which brought me here with quick Google.

I’m running Plex Version 1.14.1.5490 on Nvidia Shield. I joined it to the Beta program but 1.15 is not an option. Was 1.15 pulled.

Plex we need a fix!

This is the exact error I am getting. So not sure how this is off topic. It is also random channels. I can upgrade to the latest HDHomerun software, but I really don’t think this is the culprit.

I have the issue right now, on a channel I was just watching yesterday. If I watch with media center, it works just fine. only plex is unable to play it.

Any progress? I’ve setup Plex on a second machine - same problem!

I wish! I don’t know what else to provide. Plex is the only thing in my house that doesn’t work on every channel… I can locally tune using the HDHR software, and also on multiple pc’s with windows media center running, and they all work fine. And it’s usually not the same channel that messes up.

I REALLY would like this to be resolved, as I am getting more family members on board with using this, and giving plex more subscription money. But if I can’t get this resolved, then I’ll have no choice but to stop these plex pass subs.

I love what they have done with Plex, but live TV or recording from HDHomerun Prime is just unusable. I’m willing to move on because there appears to be no interest in fixing this, and it’s been a problem for months. Any suggestions on a replacement product? Needs to work with HDHomerun so I can replace my Tivos!

I installed Emby on my second server. Unlike Plex, it works perfectly with the HDHomerun Prime both for watching live TV and recording TV shows. Intend to do more testing to fully get a appreciation of Emby, but so far it’s looking great!

I also use Emby as it integrates with media center, which I am trying to replace with plex. I am not sure if I like the livetv stuff with Emby, but may need to look in to it. Plex needs to work. They need to get to the bottom to this. If I could run a dev build to get additional logging i will. I just need this to work. I don’t believe this is a “network” issue as previously stated. I can instantly tune to the same channel from any other pc, from the hdhomerun apps. I can also see them both from the hdhomerun web page. I can see plex try to start the stream on one of the tuners, and then it just goes away. And when it does, I get the error in plex. Yet, on the same tuner, I can then load up another stream, and it works just fine outside of plex. This issue is with plex… I wouldn’t care so much if I weren’t paying for this service, but I am. So this needs to be worked on.

Bump for a response? As a paying customer, I really feel like we should be getting a more active response here… This needs to be fixed. I was unable to watch an NBA conference final game on ESPN over plex the other night due to this issue… This doesn’t bode well plex. We need to get to the bottom of this. Everything else in my house outside of plex has no issues. EVEN on the same roku where plex is having an issue, I can load up the emby app, and watch the channel…
