I cannot for the life of me get Plex to recognize the TV show Cowboy Bebop (2021)…
Any ideas?

Maybe, if you provide a screen capture from the root of your TV library all the way down to the episodes

Also would help, if you told us what agent your TV library has as the main agent

Season folder should be Season 01 and nothing more

your season folder should jsut be Season 01 and I highly suggest switching to new agent Plex TV Series agent (you can still have it use TVDB data by default) where you would be able to use Cowboy Beebop (2021) {tvdb-367234} as the folder name to help it find it.

It should be in advanced settings of library. After changing, need to refresh metadata for library so it updates all the shows and works properly.

( only change the “agent”, the “scanner” will change on it’s own

OK, found it, and the agent was set to “Plex TV Series” already.

Did you make the folder name Cowboy Beebop (2021) {tvdb-367234} ? What is the episode ordering for that show set to? (i have mine set to TheMovieDB and had no issues when i just made some test files for that show). I would try plex dance after renaming folder

Are we sure this is true? Every time I’ve tried to set it to Plex TV Series for the scanner it will revert back to Plex Series Scanner every time I try to select TVDB as the Agent.

Change the agent and leave the scanner. The scanner will then auto switch from what I remember after you save.

Also, after you change a library you cannot really switch back as that will cause other problems.

Because you cannot mix the two. the old agents use python and the new uses C++ native to the server which is partly why it is so much faster. It really is one thing, just have still have it in two dropdowns because if folks choose to stay with old ones for now they need both dropdowns.

If you are using the new agent and mostly want the show data to be based on the TVDB aired ordering/data because that is how you base your files names on you select that episode ordering like in my screen shot. For individual shows you can change the ordering like I use TVDB (dvd) ordering for Firefly.

It takes the dance to purge the references to the incorrect data, and pull fresh clean data.
