Crashes, crashes, crashes since latest releases on WebOS and AFTV

I uninstalled the Plex app and reinstalled it. It no longer immediately Force closes and seems to be working again. Let’s see how long it works for…
:triumph::hourglass_flowing_sand::crossed_fingers:

Appreciate the help fixing this issue :slightly_smiling_face: Will let family know to keep an eye out on the update

Some people here are so rude and demanding, expecting to click their fingers and have things fixed - have ya’ll ever used a computer before? Learn some patience and provide logs so they can know what the issue is in future instead of throwing your toys out of the pram!

Thanks for the quick fix. Any idea how long it takes to show up in the Amazon App Store? I’ve never side loaded my fire stick and I’m not sure how. Both fire sticks are pretty much unusable now, thanks.

I downloaded it to my fire TV, uninstalled the old one, installed this and am still crashing over and over.

I just scrolled thru this bug report and I don’t see anyone here with an inappropriate post. It’s frustration I read - that’s all. For example, we had the grandchildren on the couch and wanted to watch a cartoon together that we had promised …

If I had been sitting alone in my room, I probably wouldn’t have cared. Life is full of alternatives. Even for old geezers like me.

I came here thinking I couldn’t be the only one. I have been having random crashes while watching videos and the most recent updates have been unstable. I updated to the latest release 10.19.2 but still facing the issue with crashes. I have also faced issues where some files do not play and I have to force transcode the video in order for it to play. I thought this was something that used to be completed automatically but does not seem to be the case. Not sure if this is a server side issue or client side but attached is the logs from the fire stick 4K (not the 4k Max version) .

Frustration sure, but lots of people come here to complain and not provide any logs to help diagnose

I also had it happen when watching something with the kids, but that’s just part of life. We can always spin up a Jellyfin server as a backup or use Netflix - it’s not the end of the world if Plex is having a problem

Try deleting the contents of Codecs folder <plex directory>/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Codecs/ and restarting it. Plex will re-download the codecs files

And in your Plex apps, disable automatic + quality suggestions

Thanks for the advice but no dice.

After uninstalling and reinstalling the app yesterday, it resolved it for a short period of time only. The problem is back and the app force closes on multiple 4k FireSticks in the house!
:rage::triumph:

It does not appear to be the Plex server itself, the Plex app works fine on all my other devices except for FireSticks on my end.
Also some people use the Plex Pass Live TV feature with the HDhomerun solution as their primary source of DVR with broadcast TV.
The issue for me is only with the Amazon FireSticks.

Plex customers who pay for Plex pass, should expect support to address this late breaking issue.
That’s the purpose of this forum.
Again, the Plex app no longer works on Amazon Fire Sticks, it force closes for me every time I open it on multiple 4k Fire Sticks. The Plex app works fine on my Android streaming devices, phones, tablets, and my laptops.

It is not appear to be a server-side issue for me, the Plex app works fine on all my other non-Firestick devices.

Same here on just my Firesticks :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Dear Plex support,
Do we have a root cause for this issue specifically occurring on Firesticks and a workaround, or fix yet?

Give me just one more reason to, add to my list of reasons, to rip and replace all my Firesticks with Nvidia Shields :thinking::muscle:

My Fire TV stick 4k is crashing every 3-5 minutes. I’ve removed plex and reinstalled, and that help for a few hours. This morning is still broke.

Just to confirm we are still trying to get to the bottom of the crashes. We have been unable to reproduce them ourselves, making it difficult to troubleshoot.

I will update this thread when I get any information regarding a fix.

Any additional information you can share about your setups or usage could help.

10.18.1.1096 (e2b6172f) seems to a decent work-around for now. 14 minutes into “John Wick”, so far so good,

Thanks…
