Create a share for Plex Library Directory

Okay…thanks. So don’t put media in the newly created Plex folder from your script. Create a new Plex Library folder for the media to go in…that is what I will do.

Doesn’t have to be named Library, could be called like Videos etc

Hello,

Having a problem with my QNAP and PMS :
I can acces from external WAN on Plextv (server ON)
but error opening the PMS window locally from local network on main PC using NAS administration page or web http://MyIP:32400/web
everything is working, only the PMS window won’t open on web interface on local network on web browser (since an update and restart of NAS two days ago)
maybe have to wait or reboot NAS after router parameters change… will see…
Had the problem with FAI external web IP change, but stopping and restarting services solved the problem…

But it ain’t my question for now

the fact is : using Putty I have the PMS install dir, it is /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer

but using NAS folder sharing management :
I can’t create a plex shared folder pointing to that to use for logs

and with WinSCP I can access via SFTP every folder on the NAS including root,
but I find no such PMS directory anywhere on the NAS (checked every volume)

I tried reinstalling PMS, stopping, restarting : no errors, but no change about that plex library folder… can’t see neither access it…

I 'de like to have a look at PMS logs…

???

just in case : i am logged as admin

Instead of going down that road…

Run the qpkg that is linked in the opening post…

It’s there for a reason!

And with WinSCP, remember to use sftp protocol, as outlined in the FAQ
http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/175405/qnap-faq-read-me-first#Q15

/T

OK, but as package is dated from 2016, was not sure it was ok for current PMS server…
I will try it and feedback. Thanks.

well… result is NOt as intended :

in WinSCP I have now :
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer
a shortcut pointing nowhere…

No it ain’t a shortcut, but a new empty dir

stopped the PKG service
erased in winSCP in /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA the bad new /share folder
restarted qpkg servie
nothing new… dir stay ‘as is’ even with reconnecting WinSCP session, no change

Still no way to access to PMS logs…

Strange, and first time I’ve seen that issue…

So in WinSCP, you should when connecting as admin user with SFTP protocol, be able to navigate to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library

In that directory, theer should be a directory named Logs, or ?

/T

I navigate to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/
but inside, i found no /.qpkg subdir displayed in WinSCP
Even after restarting PMS or PMSLibShare

And I can connect to PlexTV in https without problem to my account, server is working, with QNAP version
PlexMediaServer_1.12.0.4829-6de959918_x86_64.qkpg installed

my problem is to look at PMS logs

And the more strange is Putty returning
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/
as install directory…
from getcfg -f /etc/config/qpkg.conf PlexMediaServer Install_path command

I can acces with WinCPS to
/mnt/HDA_ROOT/.config
where is qpkg.conf

it says every pakage is installed in /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg
so why can’t I see it ?
protected / hidden in QNAP OS ? even to admin ?

and here is extract

and your utility

Oh… I do’nt know why, but suddeny it appeared in WInSCP…
whyo nly now ? what so much time beween creation (around 16:14 ) and display (only at 17h) … ???

I have the logs …

Working, but didn’t understood what happened…

The only errors I have are
Mar 16, 2018 17:14:49.023 [0x7f11ba7ff700] WARN - MyPlex: Invalid connection URL ‘192.168.1.111’
internal LAN IP of the NAS

and sometimes some LongPol warns

everything else OK

Since this thread is for the .qpkg I wrote to create PMSLibShare, I suggest you start a fresh thread, and tell what your problem actually is, as well as attach a zip of the whole Logs dir, incl. subdirectory
Hello Plex

I know, will do when I have more infos. Thanks anyway.

THe links to the qpkg is no longer valid… did it quit working after some update? I need to move my plex so I can upgrade my nas, and create new pools so I can take advantage of new features. I dont want to just migrate my disks as-is.

Thank you.
