How odd…

Worked for me before, without seen that warning, but now it does show…

Edited the post, deleted the link, and then added it back in again…

Seems to behave better now, so thanks for letting me know

A post was split to a new topic: Missing Library

Hi @dane22 - I used your very handy app to create the shared folder. But then I was worried I did something wrong and wanted to re-create the shared folder and in the process of deleting the share I accidentally selected the "also delete the data (mounted ISO image files will not be deleted).

Is there any chance that my server data is not completely gone and is instead in a recycle bin or hidden somewhere? I’ve checked through all of the recycle bins I could find in File Stations but nothing there.

I know that I messed up, but before I start a full rebuild of my Plex I wanted to be 100% sure I’ve checked everyone.

Thanks in advance!

Update - I did stop and start Plex in the QNAP Applications section after the deletion, so I’m now wondering if that step over-wrote something in the process. I’m going to hold off on a rebuild for a couple of days to see if I can find any other solutions, and in the meantime I’ll keep working on backing up my media files.

It’s sadly gone

Thanks for letting me know, at least I won’t waste my time hunting for it. Appreciate the response and look forward to using the app (properly) once I get things back up and running!

Hey I have a question for you about this plugin. So Im using this on a qnap ts453be. I want to move my movies out of the original multimedia folder as suggested to another volume on the nas. I tried moving one movie and it did not retain the metadata. Is it not meant to work this way or am I doing something wrong. I did not move the newly created shared folder from your plugin to new media volume.

To move the media from one location to another:

  1. Turn off automatic updating & empty trash
  2. COPY the media to the new location
  3. When all copying is complete, ADD the new media location to the Library section.
  4. Watch as Plex scans and shows those items as duplicate (a ā€œ2ā€ appears)
  5. When all matched, REMOVE the old media location from the Library section.
  6. Observe Plex scan again, removing the ā€œ2ā€
  7. When complete; Scan files, Empty Trash, Clean Bundles, Optimize Database
  8. Re-enable automatic scanning and Empty Trash if previously enabled.

And adding to @ChuckPa here…

My plugin creates a share for the INTERNAL LIBRARY directory, not your libraries!

Thanks @ChuckPa and @dane22

Works great for me. Thanks so much. Now I can add the Audible plugin easily without doing the SSH thing. so much nicer to have it pop on my desktop for easy access. thanks so much.

For some reason I can’t get PMSLibShare-master to work. As my backups are corrupted I’m restoring from a lot of earlier versions and having this share working will make this process a lot easier.

If I have created a shared library called Plex which points to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library before installing the package the share opens in finder, but it shows:

@Recently-snapshot

as it’s only contents. The content is there:

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library] # ls

Plex Media Server/ tmp/

I can create a folder there in Finder which shows and find sees it:

find . -name TestFolder -print
./share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/TestFolder

but it doesn’t show with ls:

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA] # ls -l ./share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/TestFolder
total 0
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA] #

If I haven’t created the share beforehand I get the error ā€œThe operation cannot be completed because the original item for Plex can’t be foundā€

What’s that?

Grrh, sorry, pasted in wrong name.

Installed PMSLibShare_1.0.qpkg

from

https://github-production-release-…

Do you already have a share named Plex present, cuz if so it’ll fail?

Did have an existing share. Deleted it, and reinstalled the package. It is working now. Thanks (again!) for your help.

(Confused with the PlexPY installation where the directory has to be created before the install)

Hi dane22, I’m trying to use your plugin but i have already a Plex share where i store all my content and i’d like to keep it like that (unless renaming won’t affect Plex). Any possible workaround? Thanks a lot

Open up an SSH session, and type:

addshare Plex "$(getcfg -f /etc/config/qpkg.conf PlexMediaServer Install_path)/Library" -uw:admin

Substitute Plex in above line with the name of the share you want to create
