Server Version#: 4.41.1
Player Version#: Plexamp 3.1.1
I am fastidious about tagging my MP3s, yet when I check my files (Get Info >> Media Info) it shows “Display Title: Unknown (MP3 Stereo)”. I have configured everything to use only my local metadata, but clearly there is a field missing that would populate this field.
Hmmm… it’s clearly marked “Display Title”, and even in all of the screen shots at this great tutorial ([How To] Plexamp 3.0) shows that entry as “Unknown”.
Why would a language tag be marked Display Title? That makes no sense (sorry).
Plexamp gets that “Display Title” from the Plex Media Server. The Plex Media Server constructs it based on <Language> (<Format>). Some newer player versions will also include the actual stream’s “title” tag (if available/set), e.g. “Director’s Commentary” (not so common with music files).
Feature Request? Music isn’t video, and video isn’t music; it follows then they use different data-structure names, so maybe a ‘conversion’ behind the scenes would solve this?
And honestly, I’m SO digging the Plexamp app, as I can now (finally) bring my music with my everywhere, which currently ranges around 172,000 mp3 files. It would be awesome if the app optionally stored the index locally, as the database they are using is kinda sluggish over the wire (45 - 60 seconds just to do the count).
Ya, I’m a music freak, and happily pay for PlexPass just for this music streaming ability - streaming the video library to me is now a bonus
