Dashboard shows usage but no details

Any idea why my dashboard shows hours of usage by a person but when I look at the details it shows “Nothing to see here”. I see older questions like this, but no suggestions or solutions.

Are you applying the same timeframe for those summaries?
Those persons could have used it for hours during the last 30 days but not during the last 7 days… so no details of them watching in that 7-day period.

Thanks, but yes it’s the past 7 days. They just showed up this morning and had that tag. It happens pretty regularly, but no always.

Can you be a bit more specific? What tags are showing and where?

Sure, just that it shows hours of usage on movies for example, but when I look inside their play list, it says “Nothing to see here” “Snuggle up on the couch and play something”
If I call them, they say sure I watched…, but the system doesn’t log it. Comes and goes and more specific for some users. I have closed their accounts and created new ones and it fixes it for awhile and then it returns.

Sorry… still not clear to me…
Are you talking about the usage times showing up in the “top users” section of the server dashboard?

Then you click on Play History when hovering over the user name in that view?

Exactly!
Why does it show a couple of hours of viewing movies but when I hover over the name and then click on the view play history, it says “nothing to see here”…

what version of the Plex Media Server do you have installed and on what platform?

1.20.3.3437 on windows 10

I’ve seen the durations being slightly off and supposed this is because Plex doesn’t pull the information live from the database to avoid extensive queries – so the only thing I can imagine is that this user watched those hours of video pretty much 7 days ago, so they’re still showing in the (not-yet-updated) summary, while they’re no longer showing in the live lookup of the play history itself.

Can you e.g. set the timeframe of the play history (details) to the next bigger duration to see when the last playback happened?

That person watched their last program on 10/11 at 6:47pm.
This viewing just showed up today on my history screen at 1hr 38min with nothing to see here.
Another person who doesn’t use mine much because he has his own account showed 19min in the past 7, and 57min in the past 30days and 58min in the past 90. All three show the same “nothing to see here”

I didn’t notice this before, but in each case where the “nothing…” comes up, even though the viewing times on the summary may be multiple hours, it always shows 0 plays on the summary.

What happens if the viewer doesn’t close out of Plex at the end of their viewing session? If nothing is being played, will Plex leave them logged in for some period of time (or indefinately) and count it as viewing minutes with 0 plays?

no… history is just about the actual watched content.

Well, it’s a mystery to me… suppose i’ll move on unless somebody has a solution. Thanks so much for your time and effort. Greatly appreciated.

Still being plagued by this “Nothing to See Here” tag on multiple viewers dashboard summaries. It shows hours of usage but doesn’t show what material was watched. Hasn’t anybody seen this?

No, but TWICE now in the last 30 days - I have watched something remotely - and neither the server, Tautulli nor the PlexDash app have indicated that any activity at all was happening.

After 2 months I hoped someone would submit a suggestion. Is what I’m seeing rare or is it just something we all see and accept. Almost without exception now, my remote viewers show hours and minutes logged in but “Nothing to See Here” is what it shows as content. Never the programming watched. How can this be fixed?

sorry… I cannot even reproduce this :frowning:

Maybe I shouldn’t be so caught up in this, but it’s only getting worse. I now have 4 of the 6 users who I share Plex with showing up with " Nothing to See Here" instead of details about what was watched. In discussions with them, they acknowledge that hours of material were watched. Some as movies, some as photos, some as home videos. It doesn’t change the fact that these people are enjoying my server. That’s important and the reason for having it, but as a manager of the resources, I feel that I’m providing that resource without any feedback of what’s enjoyed. Is it a bug? Is it a setting? Anyone with ideas??? All of these viewers used to report correctly. What’s changed?
