Is this windows 7? or windows server 2008 R2?

It is not showing any Service Packs applied?

Please check the download file used for the install for being complete

C:\Users\Lenovo\Downloads\Plex-Media-Server-0.9.912.504-3e7f93c-en-US.exe

Right click on the downloaded file, click on Properties and check that there is a Digital Signatures tab showing and also that there is a certificate in that tab for Plex Inc and when selecting it and Clicking on Detail the certificate shows no errors.

The file size should be 58.3Mb

If I copy the pms.exe before it deletes it and run that, it ends up rolling back along the progress bar and not installing.

If I try the instructions in the OP, from a normal command prompt I get:

From an elevated Administrator prompt I just get a popup saying that “This app can’t run on your PC”.

Running

msiexec.exe /i pms.msi /l*v msilog.txt ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=“1” MSIFASTINSTALL=“7” INSTALLLOCATION=“C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server”

has the same result as just clicking on pms.msi from Explorer.

EDIT: Attached msilog.txt. Nope, can’t attach .7z files, so I’ve uploaded it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1fDI89phEESaHNidXBRc0d5NTg/edit?usp=sharing

before delving into the msi logs there two standard questions to ask

1. As it is windows 8, is the windows 8 firewall active ? The install package needs the windows 8 firewall to be active as it makes changes to it for Plex Media Server

2. Is the download file complete (file properties / Digital Signatures tab visible and entry for Plex Inc showing)

Ah, nice one. I have Windows Firewall disabled as I use Comodo, so I started it and then PMS installed OK :)

Whilst it's not hard for me to start and then re-disable Windows Firewall after installing PMS, perhaps it might be an idea to make the installer not fail just because it's not running, as lots of people do use alternative firewalls.

This was asked for many times on the forums. It seems to be only an issue on windows 8 and not windows 7.

It is always best to search the forums with the error code

Installed PMS on win 7 machine got no errors during install.  When I run PMS all I get is a screen similar to web browser that shows

http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/setup

and nothing happens from there.  It is blank besides that.

Suggestions?

For some reason it is having difficulties completing the initial setup. Try changing the default browser and see if setup completes

First thing:  I'm an idiot when it come to this.

Now that I have that out of the way, I am having the

I am using Windows 7.

Thanks

If you search the forums for this error text you will get hundreds of hits - almost all of them will give the same initial recommendation. Only very few end up needing detailed and prolonged investigations. If forum internal search facility is not reliable - one can (and I do) use google search, prefixing the search text with:

site:forums.plex.tv

The standard recommendation is to Reset the System & Framework Bundles and you do not need command prompt commands for that but basic windows knowledge which you do have being a windows user

If this does not work then what would be required is an upload of a zip of the Logs\PMS Plugin Logs folder and the Plex Media Server.log file

See Reporting Issues with Plex Media Server and Plex Media Server Logs. Please raise a new forum topic as this is post setup.

Use 'More Reply Options' button and 'Attach File' to upload zipped log files or actual log files

There are timeouts on the connection between Plex Media Server.exe and the system/framework plugins

When you search the forums for the error message you will see that the majority of these issues are resolved by Resetting the System and Framework Bundles

I am trying to setup Plex Media Server on Windows 7 and I am getting the following error:

"A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server."

I tried the steps in "Resetting System and Framework bundles" (Deleting the 2 folders)  that did not fix the issue.

Attached are the log files.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. The Plex DLNA Server Neptune.log is only 0 bytes so it cannot be uploaded

I don;t believe It is completing the setup process

There were issues with Firefox with NoScript setting. You could look into that or change your default browser from Firefox to different browser eg IE11 or Chrome and retry.

I don;t know why it is getting stuck in setup

Could you shutdown Plex Media Server, check no Plex processes running, and Delete the WebClient.Bundle and restart Plex Media Server

The bundle is here

C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebClient.bundle

Could you change your default browser to IE and then go through the install again on top of the existing install of Plex Media Server

If still hangs, have a read of these threads and advice previously given. If you find an action that fixes it let us know. Otherwise wait for someone else to step in.

The other thing to check is the windows 8 firewall. the msi code for Plex needs it to be running

Thx Plex Star !
That solved the problems.  Or... not.

Well its fixed and PMS is installed now.

But when i start the PMS it pop up a browser window and loading.  Thats it..  nothing more.

Yes it is safe to give the ip address. It is only the localhost ip address ie the computer itself which is 127.0.0.1

It is not completing the setup. We have had a few cases like that. Don't know why but in the past cases like that were fixed by changing the default browser and re installing

What browser and version ? Could be old browser issue. Could be some security setting. Could be some browser add-on

You could try to choose different browser as default browser and rerun the install
