Have u checked file properties of download file to see it is showing ‘digital signatures’ tab ?
If one not shown with plex inc certificate means incomplete download

???
Am I losing it?, you do mean properties of the downloaded .exe ?, I'm not even showing that tab....I've downloaded this !@@!hing WAY to many times. Is it possible that the code is bad on this download...??
Switch browsers . IE 11 is better on dealing with the plex download servers.
No tab means incomplete download
Thanks for the quick reply sa2000 - is there a certain part of this huge file to focus on? Guessing we do not post a 16mb file here...
Edit*** It was a issue with the Plex program needing windows firewall running.. I had to temporarily turn of my firewall in Symantec Endpoint Corporate and start the Windows Firewall service in services.msc manually.. Once installed I stopped windows firewall services and fixed Symantec back to doing its job.. Guessing this was an oversight? I have quite a few other programs that are server related that get updated and I never have to jump through these hoops to do a simple install/upgrade.. anyway.. I am on the latest and greatest for now...
I see this is a bug that has not been fixed.. surely I am not the only one who has to do this for every update.. quite frustrating..
New user, fresh install on Windows 8 64 bit. Received the message "A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server" immediately upon launch. Not a very encouraging start!
Logs attached. There are another 12 in a folder called 'PMS plugin logs'...

Normally these type of errors are fixed by just doing this: Resetting System and Framework Bundles
If this does not resolve then one can investigate logs in detail
And maybe one day the root cause for these issues that happen on installs and upgrades will be found and fixed.

It had a think about it before coming back with the same error message. I disabled any firefox plugins that I thought could be interfering with it, not sure what else I can try...
Thanks for the reply though.

if the problem persists after going through the Resetting System & Framework bundles, please get fresh logs as before and also include com.plexapp.system.log which is in the PMS Plugin Logs subfolder under Logs folder
It could be security software, use of Proxy software that interfere with the update/install - or some inherent issue within the Plex Media Server auto update to plugins process that results in corrupt bundles or errors
I tried everything.... None of the tips on this thread or the others I checked worked.
On a hunch I went ahead and tried a download from cnet - IT WORKED! The install went like a charm. When I signed in to Plex the server updated and I was able to download and install the other software. Every thing went well, my media was cataloged and I was able to cast to my tablet and my chromecast just the way I thought I should.
I went ahead and got a lifetime subscription.
I believe that there is a problem with the download on the Plex website. After messing with it AND my computer for two days I restored my system to a point just before my attempts with Plex and downloaded the Plex server from cnet. If anyone feeles like giving up, try that first!
Hoping that I didn't waste my money and wishing I hadn't wasted my time......

Thought I should come back and thank you for your help, and report that after your prescribed reset and restarting the server I am up and running flawlessly. Tip for other newbies: you must use chrome in order to chromecast (google's fault not Plex's), and switching browsers is a little fiddly with plex (deleting a firefox app in my settings was the only way to get the server to appear when logging in on chrome).
Hi,
I´m having a problem running the plex. Whe it started it said it had a log problem. That I should post it to the forums, I guess in this thread (it wasn´t specific about it). I´m using the latest version, I just downloaded it. Please help, I bought plex quite some time ago, but it was very problematic trying to install it and set up, so I just stopped. Now I´m trying again. Thank you

This might be the issue that gets encountered by lots of users after an install or an upgrade which is the failure to establish the system and framework bundles correctly and there is often the need to Reset the System and Framework Bundles after upgrades/installs
Or May be there is an issue with having foreign extended characters in the folder paths used or permissions - I am not sure.
I´ve restarted everything and it seems to be working. I´m setting up my library. Thank you very much, :D

Have you checked if the download file is complete? Right Click / Properties / 'Digital Signatures' tab showing with entry for Plex Inc?
If it is complete, there may be anti virus security product blocking install
Did you run as adminstrator? Right click / 'Run As Adminstrator
Thanks for your reply
I downloaded all versions available fro Plex download page ( 09.818 - 09.912) . Using different browsers for download resulted in the same installation error.
AV is disabled.
The digital signature is present however has the attribute in ALL downloads "This signature is not valid".
Why would the signature of all downloads be not valid?
Thomas

Where do you see signature not valid?
File properties on the download file (right click on file Plex-Media-Server-0.9.912.504-3e7f93c-en-US.exe and select Properties) needs to show a Digital Signatures tab
In there a box should be present named: Signatures List
Inside the box there would be an entry for Plex Inc with timestamp displayed next to Plex Inc as 17 June 2014 00:46:14
The file size should be 58.3Mb
If this is not what you are seeing, have you tried the download from plex.tv/downloads using IE11?

Does the setup get to the point on launch to allow you to create Library Media Sections ?
What does loading this url in browser show?
localhost:32400/web
Does the url change to include the word setup?
Things to try
Changing default browser and going through repair install (through control panel / programs)
