Hi just tried to install Plex on my PC and got the following error code:

A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.
 
Please visit the forums and provide your logs, as described here.
 
I have attached the log files as described above.

Most such issues that arise on install or upgrade are overcome by Resetting System & Framework Bundles

Whilst you are trying to get Plex Media Server to be setup and work, i would suggest you disable extra network adapter and just have one active. You cannot tell Plex Media Server which one to use for the WAN port and issues have been seen when more than one interface is active - so suggest you disable one

I have not used '"windows 8 firewall control' . Is this the sphinx product?

I finaly found the cause. I had to enable Python in the firewall too!

But PlexScriptHost.exe is one of the 3 programs the install process adds to the windows 8 firewall Strange it was not there.

Check download file being complete: Right Click on C:\Users\User\Documents\EGDownloads\Plex-Media-Server-0.9.1104.739-a4e710f-en-US.exe

Click Properties

See if there is a Digital Signatures Tab and within that a certificate entry for Plex Inc

Absence of either means an incomplete download

Also make sure the windows user account is an admin account

and that there are no pending windows restart action when running the install

If problem persists, there is a second log file, zip or rar both of them and attach.

The 2 log files are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp folder

and named

Plex Media Server_yyyymmddhhmmss_0_pms.log

Plex Media Server_yyyymmddhhmmss.log

I'm getting a 404 error.  When I first set it up it worked great then it just stopped.  Tried deleting caches, frame/system bundles.  No one I know that uses Plex has any clue what could be wrong. :(

I'm getting a 404 error.  When I first set it up it worked great then it just stopped.  Tried deleting caches, frame/system bundles.  No one I know that uses Plex has any clue what could be wrong. :(

can't see any 404's in the server log. The log covers 22 seconds of time. it normally takes plex media server a number of minutes to establish itself

You could try resetting WebClient.bundle

Shutdown Plex Media Server

Check in Task Manager Process view that all plex processes terminated

Delete

C:\Users\Mediabox\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\WebClient.bundle

Restart Plex Media Server

Wait 5 minutes

Then try in browser

localhost:32400/web

and 

also 

192.168.1.10:32400/web

I presume setup completed and you have a library in place?

Will do, sorry about that.  

So I deleted the WebClient.bundle like you said and it allowed me to connect, but I had to re-add my library locations and it's syncing with them.   Should I attach some logs right now?  Or wait and see if it messes up again and post them then?

If the library was setup before in same windows account Mediabox and provided you did not delete the database within folder

C:\Users\Mediabox\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases

Then it should have found your old library content

You can attach logs. Copy out all files starting with Plex Media Server in the Logs folder and zip the copies

C:\Users\Mediabox\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plex Media Server*.*

Tried to install Plex Media Server on Windows 8, and got an error immediately. "0x80070643 - Fatal error during installation".

Check that Windows 8 Firewall is running. The setup routine tries to configure it and if it is not active it fails, There was a fix thought to overcome this issue by tidying up .Net instances (last paragraph here https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202967086-Errors-trying-to-upgrade-install-or-uninstall-Plex-Media-Server-on-Windows ) but there have been 2 cases at least of it not fixing the issue. So try that first. and if it is still the same make sure the Windows 8 Firewall is running when you do the install.

Other things one should get in the habit of is checking the integrity for the downloaded file: 

E:\Dropbox\Software\Plex-Media-Server-0.9.1104.739-a4e710f-en-US.exe

Right Click on it and select Properties and see that there is a Digital Signatures tab and entry for Plex Inc
