Destination library or location did not exist

I am running Plex Media Server v1.12.3.4973 on a Windows 10 computer. Tonight, I had two programs scheduled; Lucifer on channel 2.1 from 8 to 9 pm, and The Resident on channel 2.1 from 9 pm to 10 pm. Each of these programs showed the error message “destination library or location did not exist” while ‘recording’, and then this program disappeared from the schedule at the end of the ‘recording’. No recording was left in the TV Shows library. During the time the second show was ‘recording’ I started a recording of a show in process, Superior Donuts on channel 5.1 between 9 pm and 9:30 pm. This program recorded normally. I noticed the same problem last night, so I deleted the libraries and rebuilt them. All previous shows can be found in the TV Shows library, so the library points to the right file. My wife would like to throw me, the computer and Plex out the window! Please help!

I completely uninstalled Plex Media Server and reinstalled it. It has worked fine since. I hope this will help someone else who might have a similar problem.

My Plex server has this problem. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling. Integrity issues like this are a deal breaker because you cannot trust Plex to do its primary job (which is record shows and enable watching them).

Edit:
After uninstalling and reinstalling both Plex Server and Plex Player on my windows 10 PC, this did not solve the problem. I am running a new experiment. I stopped the Server and renamed the d: drive to e: . This is the drive which contains the media libraries and I restarted the server. I deleted the c: libraries from Plex Server and pointed to the e: drive. I will see if this will fix this problem. If this does not work, I will both uninstall the Plex software and delete the c:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\ folder. I think this will require me to reenter all my configuration data. I will update this posting with a description of the results.

I had the same problem on a Ubuntu server, and can offer some perspective. I added a new drive, and changed the library in Plex. But, every time it would try to record a scheduled program, it would error out. I could start recording a program that was in progress, and it would record fine. I finally cancelled all my scheduled recordings and re-scheduled them again. It now works fine. I am assuming that when a recording is scheduled, it also designates the location for the recording and does not check to see what the library location is.

Thanks for posting the follow up. That did seem to fix my similar problem.

You can also edit the recording to verify and change the recording location.

I did find if a library has multiple locations, you can verify the exact location when editing the recording. Another contributor to my issue was recording on a Windows 10 Server to a NAS share. Recording to the disk on the save server also made a difference.
