Detecting New Added Movies

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9314
Player Version#: 4.141.0

I am having and issue with PLEX not detecting the new movies I have been adding recently to my library

Here is an example of the last 2 movies I was trying to add to the liberary

Angela’s.Christmas.2017.1080p.NF.WEB-DL.DD+5.1.H.264-playWEB
– Angela’s.Christmas.2017.1080p.NF.WEB-DL.DD+5.1.H.264-playWEB.mkv
Bolt 2008 REMUX 1080p Blu-ray AVC DTS-HD MA 5.1-LEGi0N
– Bolt.2008.REMUX.1080p.Blu-ray.AVC.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-LEGi0N.mkv

And My Library structured as follows:

/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English

When I add the folder for the specific Movile for example I added

/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English/Angela’s.Christmas.2017.1080p.NF.WEB-DL.DD+5.1.H.264-playWEB

to the Animation Library. Plex recognize the movi files inside that folder with no issues at all. This is really new behaviour for my plex server I have been running it for few years now and with no issues with this structure at all

Also I have tried renaming the folders and mkv files to be like that
/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English/Bolt (2008)/Bolt (2008).mkv
also didn’t work

Plex DocumentationYour MediaNaming & Organizing Your Movie Files

Follow Plex naming and organization guidelines.

Given your directory structure, add the English folder to the Plex library (not the individual movie folders).

You should also clean up naming as you did with Bolt.

After renaming & reorganizing, you may need to Plex Dance the movie. That will remove any incorrect matching information from the Plex Media Server database.

/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English <-- folder added to Plex movie library
../Angela's Christmas (2017) <-- movie_name (year)
..../Angela's Christmas (2017).mkv
../Bolt (2008)
..../Bolt (2008).mkv

Using the above structure and naming, Angela’s Christmas matched immediately on my system.

Thanks For reply, but just a clarification about the Englis Folder comment.
I do have separate Libraries, one for English Movies, English Animation etc.

I point the Media Library to the exact folder for example

English Movies → /cifs/Multimedia/Movies/English
English Animation – /cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English

Do I still needs to do the English first ? so it would be
/cifs/Multimedia/English/Movies (OR / Animation) ?

Can you clarify what folders you have added to your libraries?

For example, this is the folder I have for all my movies added to my library:

My “Movies” folder that I point Plex to contains subfolders for each movie.

I am not 100% certain, which is why I am asking for the clarification, but based on your first post it almost seems as if you are adding each individual movie folder in the section I show in the screenshot above. If that is what you are doing, as @FordGuy61 mentioned, you do not add the individual movie folders. You need to add the last folder right before where all the individual movie folders are held.

To clarify using your above example:

/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English <-- "Parent" movie folder that should be added
/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English/Angela’s.Christmas.2017.1080p.NF.WEB-DL.DD+5.1.H.264-playWEB <-- Individual movie folder which should not be added
/cifs/Multimedia/Animation/English/Bolt (2008) <-- Individual movie folder which should not be added

I am not adding the individual folders
I have for movies for example 4 libraries
English Movies
English Animation
Arabic Movies
Arabic Animation

for Example English Animation is pointed to the location in the screenshot, and under that folder all the animation movies, and they were detected with no issues for years. All of a sudden now it is not being detected automatically, but If I added the specific movie folder to the list of folders it will be added to the library, but this means I will need to add each new movie to the library which doesn’t make sense.

Thanks for the clarification.

Check permission for the newly added files. Make sure Plex has at least read-only access. Also, make sure you follow Plex naming recommendations.

If that does not help, then please do the following:

  1. Stop Plex Media Server, wait one minute.
  2. Start Plex Media Server, wait two minutes for Plex to fully start.
  3. Plex Dance one of the movies that is not detected.
  4. If it still does not appear, pull the Plex log files (Settings → Troubleshooting), and post the entire zip file to the thread. Also mention which movie you tried to add (it makes searching the log files easier).

Maybe the log files will show what is happening.

Thanks for your help seems I had some issues with the directory structure and after fixed them things seems to be working fine now.
