Plex media server isn’t finding my .mp4 movies in my folders. It has found some movies in some folders but isn’t finding all of them for some reason. Also, I just added new movies to one subfolder but they don’t appear on Plex. I’ve tried but haven’t been able to find any solution to this problem.
“Subfolder” has me a little bit worried about how your directories and files are organized.
Your Library should point to a directory that contains all your movies.
Each movie should ideally be in a directory, “Moviename (Year)”.
Each movie should be named “Moviename (Year) [Extra notes in square brackets].ext”.
Can you share some examples of your directories and movie names?
There can be other challenges with permissions, or with tags/metadata embedded in MP4 files, but file naming and directory structure is the first thing to check for most people.
