Do not upgrade plex server on Macs running Hi Sierra (10.13) or earlier OSx

The latest update of Plex Server pretends it works on Mac OS 10.9 and up, but thats utter bullshit. If you are running a Mac that doesn’t support Mojave or above DO NOT UPGRADE PLEX SERVER. If you do, Plex Server will no longer run!!!
And the people at Plex couldn’t care less!!!

Can you share your server logs . Which version did you update to?

I see you made a previous post about trouble starting up after a power outage. Did you update the server before or after that?

If your computer shut down due to a power outage, it is possible your Plex database got corrupted. There’s a simple test you can try to check this.

PMS will create a brand new blank database. If PMS loads and runs then your database is bad. Use the guide above to try repairing it, or replace it with a backup if you have that.

Thanks MovieFan.Plex, wish I’d seen this response before I nuked Plex and had to recreate the library.
I might try the update again.

After the outage Plex was unresponsive, I downloaded and installed the available update (1.24) but it made no difference, so I scrubbed Plex, re-installed the earlier version, but then of course had to rebuild the library… which is where I now sit. The 1.23 version works, though the Recent TV section never updates…
Was so much better when Plex was small and wasn’t interested in supporting Windows… lol…

Get a smart UPS.
