Maybe I’m missing something…
I am having a lot of issues trying to use the downloads (sync?) feature from my server to my Plex client on Android.
I have some limited success when downloading over my own network, but much less success remotely.
One main issue I am seeing is that there is very little information about the status of a download/transcode both on the client and server.
For instance, I am downloading a movie now and in my Android client it simply says “Waiting to download” with a spinning circle and no status.
On the server, if I click on the “Activity” button it says “Transcoding Media for (username): Name of Movie”, but it provides no details on the time to transcode or any other details. When I go to “Status > Conversions” nothing is listed there despite it saying “Conversions for sync and media optimization will appear here.”
Isn’t download the same as “sync”? Didn’t they get rid of sync and replace it with download?
How are we supposed to monitor the status?
The server Activity screen stopped showing anything and my client states “There was an error downloading this file. Swipe to remove or tap to retry.”
This file plays fine streaming on my device, why can’t it transcode and download?
This is the main reason I bought a Plex pass and it doesn’t seem to work ever.
