Hi,
I’m looking at getting a NAS box for setting up a Plex server. I would like to give access to two other houses. Would I need a good internet connection for the other houses to stream from the plex server at my house? I have 14 Mbps download and 0.7Mbps upload. I’m concerned I would need better upload on my end - is this correct?
Yes. You might be able to stream very low bit rate stuff but likely could not do anything else online. Even if a transcode made it very low bitrate it would probably look horrible.
Not looking good, need a better upstream similar to your down stream speed
That’s a shame. I might need to look at leaving it at one of the other houses then and I’ll access it remotely. I’m guessing that might be a better option.
0.7 Mbps upload is good enough for music, but video yeah that’s a no-go.
