Not sure where this would go so put it here.
I have recently added seasons 12 thru 18 of the classic series. To name the files and folders, I used the format outlined in the following thread:
It worked great, btu the problem is that it only worked for seasons 12, 13, and 14…these are perfect and exactly what I want. The issue is that Plex does not recognize seasons 15 to 18 even though they are named correctly using the format above (only the numbers are different obviously). I disconnected the drive and connected it to my laptop and spent 30 minutes making sure I hadn’t made any mistakes. The HDD is connected to a Raspberry Pi and otherwise works great with movies, tv shows, etc.
If anyone has any advice or tips, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Formatting like ST092S15E01P01CH01.mkv (The Horror of Fang Rock Part 1) works for me. Part 2 looks like ST092S15E02P01CH02.mkv, so episode and chapter are both incremented. I don’t know if both are needed, I just know this works for the whole series.
I’m still a little new to all this…is there a guide that has the format that you used for these episodes? i’m referring to where you wrote “ST092S15E01P01CH01”, I’ve never seen that anywhere before. thanks.
Plex will not and should not put them in the Doctor Who 2005 series those are 2 separate series and they have 2 separate databases you can’t put them in there they will conflict if you try to put season 1 of classic and season 1 of 2005. what you want to do is not possible you will only get conflicts I have the same thing you have and they’re in separate main folders one for 2005 and one for classic.
I spent just short of forever getting these series right.
Doctor Who (1963)<—main folder
Season 15 <— season folder
Doctor Who (1963) - S15E01 - Horror of Fang Rock <- - -episodes
Doctor Who (1963) - S15E02 - Horror of Fang Rock
Doctor Who (1963) - S15E03 - Horror of Fang Rock
etc. . …
The new series of Doctor Who has to be in a separate folder or you’ll end up with a total mess.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Flamebird…your format is a little different than what i used but i will try that and see what happens. I am in the process of doing what has been called the “Plex Dance” on other threads (Dr WHO classic naming fixed)
I probably wasn’t clear in my original post…I’m not doing anything with the new (2005) series. I have always been more of a classic series guy. I sorta lost interest in the 2005 series after Tennant left. I loved the Baker episode though.
It takes forever for me to get this done (wife, kids, football, holidays, etc) but I’m getting there,LOL.
I found them in that format, and they just worked, after having problems with other naming conventions.
You say a lot of seasons already work for you, so just start renaming the seasons that don’t work, and you could experiment to see what parts of the name are really needed.
