I’ve added the 2024 CGI show DORA. There is another live action show called Dora the Explorer planned for release later this year and I suspect the Plex Series agent is trying to pull in metadata from that show, which is non-existant at this point, in conjunction with elements from IMDB.
No matter how I name my files, the 2024 CGI show listing does not appear in the list of choices when trying to match it. I’m using the Plex Series agent, and would rather keep it that way since I don’t want to have my entire library rescanned using a different metadata agent. As I said, from what I can gather, it’s pulling in a user generated show description from IMDB and nothing else (no episode names or descriptions) and potentially whatever blank metadata it’s found for the live action show.
My file structure is as follows: DORA (2024) → Season 1 > Dora (2024) - S0XE0X - Episode Name.mkv
Things I have done to troubleshoot:
I’ve tried to force the use of TVDB’s agent by changing what agent it uses at the show level in order to pick up the TVDB listing at DORA (2024) - TheTVDB.com. This did not work for the aired order or absolute order.
I’ve renamed the folder to “DORA (2024) {tvdb-441663}” to force the TVDB listing to be used. This also did not work
I’ve tried to use the IMDB code to see if I can get the metadata from there. Didn’t work.
I’ve done the Plex dance several times. Did not work.
I’ve contacted TVDB support, which as you can imagine was useless. They suggested I bring the problem here. Passing the buck and refusing to acknowledge their API is ■■■■ is right on brand for them.
I’ve tried to correct the match every way I can. Using “Dora (2024)”, “DORA”, IMDB code, TVDB code, absolutely nothing works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Never mind – I think there might be a problem in the plex backend with this show. I don’t see it at https://watch.plex.tv so maybe someone from the team can take a look. I’d suggest updating the tag to include metadata.
Interesting… as it at least comes up for me. Try using language = English (UK) ? Using just English I get the same issue you see and it worked with UK.
Anyhow, as I say I can’t find this on the watch.plex.tv so maybe its an issue they need to look into.
So that solution worked to find the correct title, but no other metadata comes in. It now shows “Dora” as the name of the show, but it still has the same description and no metadata on any episodes. Same if I search using tmdb-236234 or tvdb-441663.
How would I go about submitting this issue to the Plex team so they can troubleshoot it on watch.plex.tv (if it’s not hoping someone from the team comes across this post)?
That’s basically what you have done via the thread, now we just need to wait until someone from plex responds.
I have had a look DORA (TV Series 2024- ) — The Movie Database (TMDB) and from what I can tell all the external ids linking this episode listing to imdb and tvdb seem correct. Plex basically default using tmdb episode ordering so typically we start there to fix any metadata issues.
The only oddity I could find was over at DORA (2024) - TheTVDB.com where there was two enteries for tmdb in the ON OTHER SITES section. So I have fixed this by removing those links on tvdb and re-adding it. Maybe that will help but it’ll take between 48-72 for plex to pickup this change.
Don’t get me started on the ■■■■ show that TVDB is. Of course their listings are off. I’ve already engaged with them on several occasions about how terribly their site is run.
The 2024 DORA show is failing to match correctly. It is matching some live action show with no episode metadata.
It is matching some alternate show even when searched with tmdb-236234 and tvdb-441663.
The Plex scanner must be tying it to some other ID that is incorrect.
I dont think I can fix this locally, it needs to be done at the scanner level?
