Dear all,
I have a server and a Premium subscription and I’m sharing my library with a friend having a “basic subscription”.
I created an account for her on my server and she can access the content… But when she wants to download a content (for later watching), she’s got a message (I translated from French so could be close to this one :-)) : " you are not connected with a device compatible for synchronization".
Does she need also a premium account ? Or did I missed something?

There is an option to sync and an option to download.
Sounds like she is clicking the wrong option.
In the new Plex Player apps, there is only the option to Download.
Are you running PMS v1.16.3 or newer?
And she’s running the new Plex App for Windows?
Yeah it depends on the client.
On the web sync and download are still both options.
I’d suggest she use the web and select download.
Based on the tag, I assumed it was the Plex for Windows app which has only a Download function.

My server version : Version 1.16.5.1554 on Syno.
And she’s running Plex on chrome on her laptop and Android Apps on her smartphone…
Both provide the same error message when clicking download…
any idea?

On Chrome there should be a “Download File” option as well as “Sync” which will just download the file to your PC so you can watch using VLC or any other media player.
on Android Apps there is only a “Sync” option which the icon is an arrow pointing down which will sync items to your smartphone.
What are you trying ti accomplish? just download the file or sync it?
Are you 100% sure what she is clicking?
That is only for the server admin.
If your friend wants to sync or download from your server,
she has to use a Plex client which is able to do that.
On Windows and Mac only the new desktop player is able to do it.
Or either the iOS or the Android “mobile” Plex apps.
All other plex apps cannot do it.
