Download option not showing

How can I find the downloadable content on Plex? Every movie I’m finding doesn’t show the download button and I am working off of the app + have a Plex Pass

You are using the online “free” Movies & Shows On Plex which are free content streamed from other services. Downloading is not an option for these videos, as they are ad supported.

The download feature is only for allowing local clients to download files from personal servers. Most of the features (all?) in the Plex pass unlock additional functionality for people who run their own Plex server and provide their own media. It does not confer any benefits for the free shows/movies that Plex provides.

I posted the wrong screen shot – But I am working from the Plex app itself. So the downloading feature is only to put more content ONTO Plex, not downloading content off and putting onto a hard drive for example?

If you have a Plex server you yourself are running (or were invited to someone else’s server), then yes you ought to be able to download that file from the server to your local computer. This can usually be for personal use (if it’s from a friend’s server) or - more likely - offline use. I use the download function on my tablet to load up files for long airplane rides, where I will not have the internet necessary to connect to my server to view my movies/shows.

The screenshot you provided was of a movie on the “Plex” Movies & Shows section, which is Plex’s own Netflix-like videos they provide. I disabled that, as I use my own server with my own content that has no ads or restrictions. So I thought you were referring to those movies.

BTW, that screenshot you show is the web player in your browser (Chrome?). If you use the same web browser and have a server, I THINK that browsers cannot download these files. At least, my limited testing I did just now seems to indicate that there is no option in my browsers.
