Hi, I am having issues downloading some movies off my server. I am running the newest server version on a MacBook Air (just updated the sw). I am trying to download a movie (any movie) to a Samsung Tablet running the Plex app on Android (also running latest version) and downloading to a 256GB external SD card. This is my server/my account and I do have a lifetime Plex Pass. So the downloads should be automatically enabled and I cannot find a setting that would be turned off in my server for myself- I do see how to enable it for friends and family. When downloading in the app, after a few seconds, I get an error saying “Transfer Failed”. Tried restarting app as well. Any ideas??
Fighting my own issues trying to make my stuff work properly lol …but i came across some info about downloads and how plex stores downloads locally within its own app there was some mention about external sd cards but i did not read into it as it was not a battle i was fighting…i do know that any movies you download from your plex server are ONLY visible to and accessible from the plex app seems they recently did away with any ability to use a different player
Is it possible to select the local storage on the tablet ( where plex app is running) as the target for the download ?
Thank you for the Quick Look! You were right- it can only be downloaded to the internal drive, not the SD card. Weird, I thought before I could do it to the SD card. Maybe that changed. Thanks for the help!
what issues are you having? I’m not great at this stuff, but you never know, I may have faced similar issues.
The new app doesn’t have the option to save to a different location. Not sure if this will be added in the future. The only way to diagnose your issues are to look at your app logs after reproducing the failure.
