Downloads from Mac Plex server to iPad tablet

Server: MacOSX 15.4.1 version 1.41.6.9685 (Mac16,10)
Apple IPad: Plex App 2025.15.0
Every time I go away and want to watch something on the flight I have to plan my watch list over a week out. Mainly because I have to go through the roulette wheel of what films will actually download to my iPad.
I have gone through the films I want to take and optimized them for Mobile, so smaller versions exist. I thought this year I was in luck as I have changed my Plex server to a Mac Mini and I am using my Apple iPad.
Of the 8 films, 4 have downloaded with no fuss however 2 are “Downloading” 3 days now, and 2 point blank refuse to download.
I go through this every time, and I always end up copying the Optimized files directly to my iPad (it takes a few minutes) and then use the Apple media player to watch them.
Why is this so hard? I don’t need any bells or whistles I just want to watch my films for a few hours on a plane, offline.
Plex is a fantastic app in so many ways, I am a lifelong fan and I have 20Tb+ of media, in my house and when I am streaming anywhere in the world it works flawlessly.
Why can’t I choose to download a few optimized films to use it offline?
I know there are some tricks and workarounds to make this work, which leads me back to what can’t I just click on download, choose which version I want and then it downloads?
This discussion has been going on for years, so I don’t expect an answer, I just wanted to vent, having just spent 12+ hours trying to get 8 2.5Gb films onto my iPad.
[Update] While typing this I used Apple file transfer and it took 15 minutes.
