Downloads in side bar does not work

Server Version#: Version 4.125.1
Player Version#: 1.91.0.129-1cd63c1d

Trying to abort downloads… and when I click on the Downloads sidebar menu, I get this:

Ideas?

I’ve now had two Plex updates but continue to get the above messages.

This is quite frustrating as Plex seems to be downloading stuff that I do NOT want to download. There ought to be away to abort all downloads and presumably the sidebar option allows for this…

Any idea why after multiple updates that will continue to fail?

The nuclear option:

  1. close the player (all instances of it
  2. find the data folder (usually in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plex) and clean it out.
Careful, that you don’t clean out the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server!
  3. Start the player. You will have to set it up as if it were new.

Thank-you OttoKerner.

There is no “Data” folder in that location. I also did a search for “data” in the Local/Plex folder… and it only found some data files in the GPUCache folder.

FYI: There is no child “Data” folder in the Plex Media Server folder either.

I should state that this laptop was originally a Windows Desktop Plex Player installation only; but I could not get downloads to work properly and without a network connection I could not even start Plex properly. I was advised to uninstall the Player and the install Plex Server directly on the machine. Then I reinstalled the Plex Player. In this way I could play local files when I had no internet; and also have access to my home server when I did.

The Plex Player shows my local “music only” library - but also with an internet connection my home Server system as well. I was quite hopeful that this would work… but the machine is constantly downloading from my home Server system.

Downloads seems to have multiple problems:

  1. The downloads side bar/panel does not work, (See error above)
  2. Deleting downloads seem to stop current downloads - but the next day they just start again.
  3. The Artist download was convenient to stop downloads but often it does not reflect active downloads. So even though the top panel activity indicator is clearly showing a song is being downloaded, the library interface is NOT.
  4. An Artist is showing the download icon on ALL albums - but the Artist download icon is not active. Also, the Delete Download menu option is not available; either at the Artist level, or any of the individual albums. In each case, the download icon is greyed out.
  5. The Server that Downloads are coming from, does not show Downloads activity in the dashboard and IMHO, it should.

Plex needs a way to kill all downloads. If this is in that panel that is currently not working in my system, then that also a design issue too, (IMHO). Plex should have a kill switch from the Server as well; so that any players making requests can be terminated. Shouldn’t the Server manager/owner have control over this?

Any ideas on sorting this would be very appreciated. I’ve been on the road for a week and this laptop is constantly downloading files and I cannot stop it. That is a fail. I will be forced to uninstall everything and start from scratch.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plex is the data folder of the player app.

Ahhh… OK. Thanks for the clarification.

However, I had another update and magically the downloads stopped. Not only that the downloads side panel in the desktop player is now not raising that error. Seems like some progress on the last update…

Now, I just have to manually delete 538 items. :frowning:

How about a “select all” option, guys and gals?
