First of all I have checked the http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=78804&seasonid=606636&lid=7
I have 8 other seasons named similarly, but all of the season 9 episodes don’t get identified as in the series. the Home directory is named per convention Doctor Who (2005) in folder Season 9.
Instead its is own entry as Doctor Who, Season 9 not under the section with the other seasons.
I manual edit them in plex and they still don’t get marked and become part of the original folder
I had this originally: “Doctor Who - S09E07 - The Zygon Invasion (1).mp4”
tired with out the title, no change. tried Doctor Who (2005) - S090E01.mp4 no change.
Interesting to note the Server tries to match Doctor Who, Season 9 to the file not Doctor Who (2005). I have 8 seasons working correctly so I suspect something about where the server is drawing its source information form could be at fault rather than the naming convention.
These are mp4 files. I bet these have embedded ‘Title’ tags, containing “Doctor Who, Season 9”.
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Afterwards, Plex Dance the whole season 9 of the Doctor.
Typically when you name your file name different then your show name you’re going to run into issues.
In this case your folder structure is telling Plex it is Doctor Who (2005) but your file is telling Plex it isDoctor Who.
What I would recommend doing is:
*As a precursor to this I would also check to make sure there is no metadata stored inside the file itself. And if there is correct or clear it out. In windows you can right click the file, select properties, and then move over to the Details tab in order to see the title tag that usually affects issues like this.
Make sure your files show names all match the show name in your folder structure.
ie. Doctor Who (2005) - S09E09 - Sleep No More (The episode titles are ignored by Plex, but I use them for my own organization)
Move the Season 9 folder out of the Doctor Who (2005) directory.
Rescan the library
Empty the trash
Move the Season 9 folder back into the Doctor Who (2005) directory.
Rescan the library
If you still get weird matching at that point your Plex Logs after scanning the library should reveal what is causing the matching to go weird. From your last screenshot it appears that you either have bad metadata in the file itself or there is something really wrong with the directory structure that Plex is reading as there normally is not a way to get , Season into the title field automatically without it being internal metadata.
