DS918+ After upgrade to 1.13.0.5023 I get codec errors for all media

I just upgraded Plex to 1.13.0.5023. The steps I followed:

  1. Manually stopped Plex
  2. Downloaded the correct 64bit version PlexMediaServer-1.13.0.5023-31d3c0c65-x86_64.spk
  3. Upgraded via Package Center
  4. Ran Plex
  5. Server is running, but when I try to play any video file on my TVs, PC or phone they all give this error:

“Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install.”

Synology DS918+
DSM 6.1.6-15266 Update 1
Plex server 1.13.0.5023

Nothing changed on DS918+ apart from upgrading Plex. Was all working fine before upgrade, and I cant find the previous version anywhere.

I tried to fully uninstall Plex and reinstall the current version, but the same error comes up.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Downgraded to 1.12.3.2973 and everything playing again. Might be a problem with the latest package?

Spoke (typed) too soon. One file played, others presenting same error :frowning:

Recreate the failure please.
Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs.
Attach the ZIP file with your next post.

could you let me know how you downgraded? I have all kind of issues since update. keeps scanning files over and over, than i get this:An error occurred trying to play “Stories”.
shaka1001 (Network)
watched shows are showing not watched a day later and my search option comes up empty every time. added 2 movies a few minutes ago and not showing in library at all.

so please let me know how you rolled back. thank you!

With the previous version SPK you downloaded:

  1. Package Center → Remove Plex Media Server
  2. Package Center → Manual Install → Previous version of Plex.SPK

Based on error logs it looks like this is a DNS issue. Plex/DS is unable to resolve addresses, so it’s a problem with the NAS. Will move this to Synology forums as Plex seems to be fine.

Worth visiting here as I hadn’t realised HW Transcoding required a Plex Pass. I’ve signed up now, and would have done so much earlier if this fact was better sign-posted. Just a suggestion, which I’m sure will also help the business. Thanks for help!

I should of specified the server is running on a mac. As to the error logs, sorry! Can’t help you there, but since there are several complaints already for this update (Version 1.13.0.5023) I only wanted to mention the issues I’m having. One that keeps coming up is: shaka1001 (Network)

And I generally update. I don’t believe my mac keeps earlier versions of releases. That’s why I asked where could i get it? I don’t wish to start from scratch. Like most people, I have an extensive library, and don’t want the hassle. Did it a few times already. At least for unstable release (as in this case), please leave option to revert to older/previous version.
