DSM 7 cannot log into server

Hi, after a crash I had to restore my DS916 completely from the current backup (DSM7). Until the crash, Plex was already running on DSM7 with version 1.23.4.4775. When reinstalling Plex, the shared folder is present, I can’t get to my server. Message: the server is currently unavailable. Have already uninstalled after reinstalling Plex, keeping all data. Performed reinstallation with Plex claim token. But no improvement achieved. What do I have to do to get my settings and media libraries back?

Sorry, unfortunately did not work. Attached the folder Plex with all logs.
Plex-Logs.zip (1.6 MB)

I have now disconnected the router from the power supply and restarted it.
UpNP is activated.
Installation performed as described.
But my old media library is not present.
I still have the original “Preferences.xml” before migration to DSM7. Can this help if necessary?

Logs:
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-07-14_13-11-34.zip (783.3 KB)

preferences.xml:
Moderator: File removed.

okay. My server is back. Unfortunately, my settings and libraries are not. Is there any chance to restore them, even with the old Preferences.xml, or from the backup?

it seems like i have the same issue.

Plex server was AWESOME before my re-installation after i accidentially removed my server within plex.
As i didnt know how to add the server, i decided to re-install the plex media server on my NAS.
Now i cant find my server within PLEX.

Could you help me? I have attached the logfiles

PLEXServer.zip (343.0 KB)

Worked like a charm! Thanks Trumpy81

Hello. I’ve had the same issue after I upgraded to DSM7 and followed your instructions. Unfortunately, my server is not accessible. I now have another server which is completely empty of course. Could you help me ? I’ve attached the logs, but they are from this new server, as I can’t access my former one :frowning:

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-10-01_21-02-38.zip (182.4 KB)

thank you for your quick answer.

Yes, I still have the data in my Plex shared folder.

I did follow all these instructions when I upgraded to DSM7 (actually I followed PLEX migration with DSM 7 but hopefully it was a correct copy of your instructions).

Now if I uninstall Plex and Erase all data, does it mean I’m going to lose all my view/users history and settings ?

@GastonK

IF you still have your metadata in the “Plex” shared folder, you can safely ERASE.

ERASE is only applicable to DSM 7 data.

( There have been some cases where Uninstall+ERASE has been needed twice to clean out all the junk caused by DSM 7 upgrade + repairs + Package Center 1.21.0.3744 old beta package )

This is necessary because I will not let it migrate (overwrite) anything that looks like a valid DSM 7 installation – even though we know it’s empty, the scripting can’t tell the difference.
