DTS issue => SONY AF8 plex player + Synology PMS + Sonos Beam

hi all,

having issue to play DTS content.

set up is as per following:
PMS on synology NAS. last version
TV sony AF8 android with player from the google store. it’s configured “patsthrough HDMI”
Sonos Beam linked to TV through HDMI ARC.

each time i read DTS content, i need to go to Sony menu to change DIGITAL AUDIO OUT from “AUTO1” to “PCM”. then i’ll have some sounds.

but i was thinking the server should handle this directly and to transcode DTS to something like dolby 5.1 which should avoid me to change TV settings following what i’m reading.

thanks !

What are the TV’s “DIGITAL AUDIO OUT” options? Apart from “AUTO1” and “PCM”, what’s available? Is there a “Dolby Digital” or “DD” choice?

The Beam can’t play DTS, but can play DD. If you can force the TV to only output DD, it might only advertise DD to Plex. What you want is for the Plex Server to convert to DD for you.

This should all be magic, with the devices communicating their capabilities to each other. But …

hey guys, i thank you for your input. my configuration was wrong on Plex player on the TV. i was in passthrough and i put it disabled. now i’m able to get sound from movies with DTS. i can check in the player that server is transcoding it properly :).

thanks for your inputs.
