I am getting duplicate entries for some of the Movies in my directories
I have deleted and recreated the directory.
I have read as many posts as I can find and none of the suggestions seem to help
Thanks
The one you point out has two different names…
ST2_DISK1
and
Star Trek II Wrath of Kahn
See what file the first one is referenced too…
There is nothing in the directory as shown above. The name is actually what the Disc called itself when ripped but I have no idea where the system found it
Click on the poster find/click get info and see what it says
I have been messing with the II but there are several more so I selected the one for Insurrection
and it is pointing to the same file as the one that is correct
Thanks for taking time to help
ST2_Disc1 is a Collection not a movie.
See where it says 1 Movie below it?
You can avoid this by turning off or changing the minimum number of movies required for Collections.
Edit: What @Dan_Bev says. I missed that ST2_Disc1 is a collection.
Place the movies in their own folders. Perform the Plex Dance when you move the files. It will clear out incorrect matching, old metadata, etc from the database.
R:\Movies\Star Trek Insurrection (1998) {imdb-tt1020844}\Star Trek Insurrection (1998) {imdb-tt1020844}.mp4
R:\Movies\Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan (1982) {imdb-tt0084726}\Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan (1982) {imdb-tt0084726}.mp4
Check the files for any incorrect embedded metadata (title, etc). Plex will read embedded metadata from mp4/m4v files.
Configure your library to not use embedded metadata.
If using the new Plex movie agent, edit the library, select Advanced, uncheck the box for “Prefer local metadata.” Save changes, refresh metadata.
If using the old movie agent, go to Settings → Agents → Plex Movie (Legacy). Uncheck the box for Local Media Assets. Refresh metadata.
Thanks guys. I will get started
Thanks for all of your help. Everything is much better
