DVBLogic TV Butler - No channels found

Ok guys, we haven’t found the Synology solution yet (still working through that one) but for Linux that uses udev rules here’s the fix:

Rename the attached file to 60-tvbutler-perms.rules and copy it to /etc/udev/rules.d

Then run:
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
sudo service udev restart
sudo udevadm trigger
sudo service plexmediaserver restart

This should allow Plex Tuner Service to have libusb access to the TV Butler, and it should show up in PMS after this. If not, try removing the usb drive and replugging it and if it still doesn’t try rebooting.

Let us know if you’re still having issues! If so please attach:
/var/log/syslog
sudo dmesg > dmesg.txt
and the normal PMS logs as well.

I’m working on talking to our packaging team on the best way to get this packaged.

@ARpfel I was poking around my personal Synology, and noticed a /lib/udev folder, can you try to drop in the file from the post above, renamed to 60-tvbutler-perms.rules in /lib/udev/rules.d and then if the commands above don’t work, try just rebooting the NAS and see if it comes up after?

The dev I’ve been working with is busy with quadhd stuff ATM, but hoping this will fix your issue (I have a Syno, but in the US, so no TV Butler here unfortunately)

@killic41@gmail.com you can try above as well.

@keithah Your workaround worked well for me.
So following you instructions rename, copy --> restart NAS did the trick.

Thanks a lot for your work!

Great! Glad to hear you got your tuner going.

Thanks so much! Working here too now…

edit.: On a linux box btw

It’s a new update outside. But I still can not find any channels

i am have this problem where do i find /lib/udev/rules.d

Hi everyone
Is there any news on the updated beta for this issue

or can anyone help with finding the /lib/udev/rules.d on synology please

thank you in advance

Hi

Did the “60-tvbutler-perm.rules” with reboot on my 716+ but still no channels found
(Germany)

@Plex guys - The udev rule works great for the TVButler however I was wondering and others probably are too (why doesn’t the rule contain information for setting a device file path)?

The reason being the udev rules are where the device file path is specified for a specific device. Specifying this enables other devices to properly access it and assess it’s capabilities.

Also could the udev rule file please be included in a pull request or other submission to the appropriate open source development project?

On MacOS I found my DVBLinkServer still running in the background which prohibited Plex to properly initialise the device. As soon as I killed it it worked fine.

has anyone got tv butler to work on a windows PMS?

Hi,

TVButler does not find any channels via PMS installation, but it works fine with TVMosaic attached to my Qnap NAS. Any idea from Plex- Team?

Many thanks and kind regards,
Peter

Hi guys!

I have the same problem that Piter91101. TVMOSAIC works perfectly and search all frequency channels in my qnap but with plex not work.

How can I try to resolve it?

THanks very much

Hello ARpfel,

I have the same problem with a Synology DS1512 +, my TV-Butler can not find any channels although it works without problems in TVMosaic.
Unfortunately, I do not understand the solution that is described in the thread. I find neither the attachment in the thread nor the folder where I hav to copy in the attachtment or rename something.
You wrote that you could solve the problem with it.
Can you explain to me a bit about what I have to do or how to proceed?

Best regards,
Bernd

My problem, with TV mosaic works with pelex does not find the channels.

Hi Peter I am having same issue with more or less the same setup. Did you resolve yours, if so do you mind sharing.

Dale

Hi Dale,

no, same Problem as before. Never got an answer from Plex Devs… I am a Plex Pass user since the beginning, sad but true:-(

I Use for now MrMc and the TV Plugin “TVMosaic”; it works like a charm with TVButler. Also there is a native App for Android/ TVOS by TVMosaic, this works too:-)

I resolved by uninstalling TV Mosiac and disabling DTV function in Video station.

Hi - I am looking for the file that was referenced in this thread…
I have tvbutler, too, and it is not finding any channels in Plex (but everywhere else)

Thanks,
Christian
