I have a synology nas ds416j that I am currently hosting my plex service from, The tuner dongle I have just purchased is not recognised. It seems to be a bit Russian roulette with these things despite researching before the purchase.
Is it possible to run the dongle from a pc that I have running on my lan and connect it to the plex service on the Linux nas?
Or shall I run the plex server from the pc and use the nas only as storage?
Thanks in advance

if the PC is switrched ON all the time, you might as well move your plex server fully there. It may be able to transcode video much faster than your NAS.
I’m in the process of moving the plex server, I deleted the instance of the nas server on the web gui. Despite doing this when I log on again on the pc with server installed it can’t find the new server and requires me to download. / restart etc etc. What am I doing wrong here?
Initial setup must be done with a web browser from the same machine (or at least the same local network), using the “local” web app. ( http://127.0.0.1:32400/web )
Browser should be in ‘incognito’/‘privacy’ mode.
Disable all browser add-ins.
Starting from DSM 6.2, the USB device drivers, including printers, cloud printers, DAC/speakers, Wi-Fi dongles, DTV dongles, 3G/4G/LTE dongles, and Bluetooth dongles will no longer be updated.
