DVR fails on new version

After upgrading to 1.17.0.1841, my DVR and Live TV fails. Recordings say they record, however nothing. When I try to view live TV, it spins forever and I see this in the logs over and over.

I rolled back to 1.16.6.1592 and it fixed my problem. The issue is definitely with 1.17.

Still getting this with the latest plexmediaserver_1.18.0.1846-f62172e99.
Any ideas what changed from 1.16 to 1.17|1.18 in regards to clicking play on the live tv?

i am having the same problem. it’s a new problem for me, but apparently it has been happening to people for a long time. my plex server is on a WD PR4100 and i can’t access the database files to delete them, which apparently is what helps. I don’t know enough about any of this. Very frustrating.

I encounter the same problem.

With plexmediaserver_1.16.5.1488-deeb86e7f_amd64.deb everything seems fine.
Here are my logs from pms starting to playing a DVB live stream in Chrome web player (linux Version 77.0.3865.90 (Build officiel) (64 bits) ).

The odd thing is this seems to happen only when trying to view live TV via the web browser. I’ve tried Chromium and Brave. Both throw the errors.
If I go to my Roku, it does play, however I have never been able to fix the audio sync while watching Live TV.
If I record shows, everything is in sync.

My system :
Ubuntu Ubuntu 18.04, AMD Thread Ripper 2950X, 32G Ram, 30TB ZFS, HW transcode enabled and working with GTX-2080.

Plex is running on the base os. telly running under docker-compose to act as an HDHomerun.

This seems to be an issue with the browser more than the underlying Plex server.

Interesting enough, after your comment, I tried to play a TV live stream from my android phone.

And in fact, for me it depends of the channel I try to play.

I found one, working both in Android app AND on the web site (using Chrome).
But all the other I tried don’t work.

So another log archive using v1.18 and with the first and last channel played working (it’s the same channel, French FR3-HD), and a few others not working (I previously only tried channel french FR5-HD, that channel works perfectly in 1.16 but not in upper version 1.17/1.18).

I am also having problems with live TV on WebOS and PMS 1.18.0.x on linux. Some channels work, and others cause the front light to flash on my HDHomerRun while trying to tune and then I get a couple of error messages “Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna” being the most common.

I’m over 24+ hours into a Music library scan, so I can’t do a whole lot to troubleshoot right now, as I am afraid to stop the process and lose all my progress. I have also noticed that I can’t update my Movies library right now, but I can update TV Shows while the Music library scan is running. That’s new and weird behavior.

IDK how many other folks noticed, but the Plex install footprint on my server was about 20% larger, going from ~200MB to ~250MB with this latest version, so I suspect there’s quite a bit of new code to debug. Yay.

I have the same problem with Plex 1.17 and 1.18, with 1.16 everything work fine, but the problem in Plex isn’t with my M3U or XMLTV, because I see this errors in the console:

and my M3U or XMLTV dont have this tags, the problem is when Plex parse the provider XML, for example from akamaihd.net

For me, 1.17 and 1.18 are garbage! Problems with subtitles, intermittent playback and network error in Samsung and LG TV, DVR problems and more. They launched 1.17 as a public release, and this is the worst Plex version I have tested in years!

Go back to 1.16 and problem solved.

Same problem here - PMS 1.18.0.1944 on Linux. Except, in my case, this happens with whatever media I try to play - I don’t have DVR/Live TV set up at all.

I get this issue on a particular Linux Plex Web client, both in FF and Chrome. Intermingled with the tag mismatches and empty codecs list I also get specified duration errors.

I did not get this on my previous machine running the same OS, but with this fresh install I get this error. The Web client just spins instead of loading videos.

I was able to use Girens on this machine without error, and I can play the same media in that client and on other clients. I can’t play anything in Plex Web on this client, though.

Same issue here as well. Worked fine on 1.16 but 1.17 and 1.18 are a no-go.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Happens on Web/Android/Android TV for me.

I just resolved this for myself. I was using xTeVe 1.4.4 and when I migrated to 2.1.0 it seems to have fixed my problem. Hopefully this helps some of you resolve this issue if you are encountering it.
