Is it possible to restrict which folder a user is able to save DVR files to or to restrict the Library (incase I want DVR recording in a different library)?
No there is not any built in way to do that but sounds like an interesting idea. I make no promises about it being implemented but I will pass it along.
Many folks solve these types of problems by having completely separate DVR TV/movies libraries to which they record, with only those folders which are appropriate.
For example, on my server I have two “TV Shows” -type libraries:
TV
DVR TV
For any of my ripped content, I use TV. For my recorded content, I use DVR TV. Each library has its own set of available folders.
You can add your DVR recordings folder to your TV library in this configuration as well so that you can still view your DVR recordings from your “normal” TV library. If you configure your libraries this way, you would only use DVR library in the Live TV interface when you schedule recordings; you would still view the recordings via your regular TV library.
Note: You still have to select the DVR library when setting up the recording, but once you do so once it will become the default when setting up new recordings.
Right, I want to force users to use the right library. Right now they just save stuff where ever the heck THEY want to.
