I have opened a case with Gracenote to establish what their criteria is for making changes to the Germany (Extended) country lineup - Deutschland (erweitert)
I have made them aware of the impact the changes have and also mentioned lack of Vodafone lineups
If this is happening to other lineups as well (other than Deutschland (erweitert)) - please let me have the details

Those on the left remain unchanged until the provider would change their settings. And that hasn’t happened for a very long time here.
What’s changing are the number on the right, i.e. in the drop-downs.

Hi HaesleAdmin, maybe you are using the HDHomeRun Tuners. I am closing all not used channels from HDHomerun, so in fact while I need to add the new epg lineups I minimize all unwanted. Using delete and favorites I also see all new available channels. This speedups a bit knowing that the rest is painful enough.

Hallo sa2000, my idea, here in this thread a few days ago. I think we have to get rid of this problem from two sides, first provider ok, but second a better logic in Plex to get this matches automatically… I guess the logic insides Plex is a “world wide used” and will not withstand changes. Plex should be 24/7 without any Problems of losing channel lineups.
The problem persists , one change at the beginning of the list will impact most off all other channels ;(
Idea
The solution would be quite simple. Every EPG Channel has a code e.g. ZDF aka ZDFGERH, if there is a method of trying to find the match is must be made not from the numbers or from the channelname in brackets, instead the alpha-code (ZDFGERH) must be taken. I think this alpha code will not change ever so it’s secure to use.
The best way would be a worksheet with two rows
1st row: what’s the name of the channel provided from HDHomerun (name not number)
2nd row: what is the alphacode of the epg provider
With this kind of sheet (once manual done) there should be no more trouble. I doesn’t take place very often that there are new channels or channels deleted, if so the admin has to manage this. The sheet should be generated and maintained from the admin via webgui.
Regarding Vodafone Cable TV in Germany, I received a response from Gracenote that Vodafone cable in Germany is covered by Giga and Horizon lineups

You need to remove the current DVR instance and create it again from scratch. When going through the dialogs, in the very last step you can select the lineup. This defaults to “Deutschland” because of your input in previous dialogs and you have to switch that in the dropdown to “Horizon TV”

I will report actually one missing. good job Plex, and therefore at this point no need of my idea 
be aware of following: series recording restricted to 1(!) channel → Tagesschau ARD 20:00 will not be found, cause the lineup number changed, workaround … deleting and new schedule. this problem has to be “solved” with every change in the lineup. If you set it to all channels, no problem…
