DVR Record Times too strict

If there is even 1 minute of overlap from another show, and there isn’t another tuner available it won’t even attempt to record the next show. There needs to be built in logic to “allow partial recordings” like Emby has, this logic will allow it to keep trying to start any given recording within a certain window of time. Why is this an issue? Because of shows like Grey’s Anatomy that are scheduled from 8:01 to 9:01, I have to other shows that record at 9:00pm, but it refuses to even attempt the 2nd show because Grey’s is still recording at 9:00. Media Center would still record shows as well as long as it didn’t go more than a few minutes, worst case I might be missing the 1st minute of the show at 9, or it might cut off the last minute of Grey’s, this is better than not at all.

There’s already an option to allow partial recordings. Do you not have this checked?

I already have this checked on all of my recordings, but it still refuses to record 2 things in the specific scenario mentioned above, see attached pic.

Are you limiting the recordings to specific time slots or anything? If it conflicts, it will still show the conflict, but record a partial recording.

Dave, that’s what I thought it would do, but last week, I had Grey’s lower in Priority than Star Trek, it showed the conflict, and then did NOT record Grey’s at all.

While I have you, do you know if there is a way to force the guide to refresh more often, or on a certain day of the week? I’ve posted this in another thread, but I’m having issues with it missing “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” because the guide data hasn’t updated yet, and it just show generic data, once I manually refresh it on Mondays, it loads the detailed data for each episode, and then will record them. I should mention that this is because I have it set to only record New episodes, and of course when there is no detailed data, it doesn’t know if the episode is new or not. I’ve attached another picture of the Recording Schedule for next week, and you’ll see that it’s only set to record Tuesday’s show, and not the rest of the week, and you’ll also notice that it’s showing a conflict with Grey’s again, and I’ll be it’s not going to record it next week.

Here is Last Weeks Recordings for Thursday, and you can see it did NOT record Grey’s OR Star Trek. So even though I’ve checked the box for partial recordings, it doesn’t seem to be obeying it.

Here is an example of the guide data issue, this is what’s listed in the guide for “The Late Show” on Wednesday of next week. If I refresh this on Monday of next week it will populate the updated info for this episode, with the Episode number the and the guests.

@DaveBinM
Any updates? Are you seeing these issues with anyone else?

I can’t say I’ve seen this with anyone else. Some logs from when it attempts to record would be needed to see why it’s doing this. If you could provide some logs, along with the name of the show, and the time it should have recorded, it would really help! :slight_smile:

It happened again last night, Plex did NOT record Grey’s Anatomy. @DaveBinM what logs do you want? I’ve attached the screenshot I took last week showing that Grey’s was set to record but showed conflict, and then I took a screen shot this morning of yesterday’s recordings. You can see that it just completely skipped Grey’s, but oddly, it DID record Star Trek, even though it showed a conflict for it as well. BTW, the reason TYATR didn’t record was because it said it had a signal issue, not sure what that was all about. The other weird thing is that it doesn’t show an error in the UI for Grey’s, it’s just not there.
