DVR Recordings Stopping Prematurely.

Hi all.

When recording a show from my HDHomeRun Prime to Plex’ DVR, the shows will stop recording early. As far as I can tell, there’s no error - it’s like Plex just decides that the show is finished and processes it as normal.

My setup is as follows:
Windows 10 Pro x64, Version 1703
Plex Version 1.7.2.3878
Ryzen 1700
16GB RAM
4TB media drive, where my Plex library is stored (5900 RPM)

I’ve attached the logs from the latest failure. It happed during The Chew, which was supposed to record from 1pm est to 2pm est. As you can see, it stopped recording at around 1:03pm. There are multiple other examples in the logs, though, I’m sure.

Please, help. I want to ditch my aging Tivo and this is the perfect setup.

I’ve seen this happen as well.

In my case it was the season premiere of “Dark Matter” on SyFy which was a double episode with each episode being 1hr. The actual recording was only ~31min. This was scheduled for 06-09-2017 from 8:00 to 10:00 pm. The one hour scheduled to record after that on the same channel recorded fine.

My setup is as follows:

DSM 6.1.1-15101 Update 4
Plex Version 1.7.2.3878
Intel Atom C2538 SoC
2GB RAM
41TB SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID with dual disc redundancy) (8x 8TB WD Red)

Did yours only happen the once? Mine happens with every single recording. It’s frustrating.

To say for sure I will need to go through my recordings a bit more thoroughly. So I will try and get back to you on that soon.

Although I do recall one other truncated recording offhand. There was a marathon of “Angie Tribeca”. In this case I set them all to record. The first recording was fine at about ~30min but the second one stopped at about ~7min in. The third recording was fine at the full ~30min. I will have to check the rest.

I just bought a Mediasonic ProRaid H8R2-SU3S2 8 Bay DAS (Direct Attach Storage / eSATA / USB) for the purpose of a complete direct backup target. Doing a backup now and it could take a few days given the amount of data / media. The NAS is a bit sluggish during the backup process.

The transfer speeds are decent but I am hoping the backup doesn’t effect DVR recording functionality or quality.

For what its worth I am using a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime with this setup.

OK, it occurred again with “Angie Tribeca” which was scheduled for 10:30 to 11:00 pm today. The resultant recorded file was only 6 min and 6 sec long.

This has been happening like crazy for me. It’s happened with > 60% of my recordings in the last 2 weeks. Most of them are movies, but many of them I was really excited to have.

As far as our setups go, the common theme seems to be HDHomeRun Primes and Plex Server Version 1.7.2.3878. I don’t remember seeing prematurely terminated recordings before a week or two ago.

Setup:
Plex Server (Windows) Version 1.7.2.3878
Windows Server 2012 R2
HRHomeRun Prime
24 GB of RAM
Dual-Hex Core Processor (Xeon)

Also, the recordings stop all over the place for me. One was 6 seconds long, many are 30 minutes, and a few are 1hr + change.
